My review is for the 24″ Smart TV option – LG 24MT48S. It is a great TV in terms of picture quality, interfaces and the smart features. There are ample inputs and the remote control is good. I have a couple of issues with this TV however, which I would draw to the attention of potential buyers;
1. The interfaces – HDMI cables, antenna connector etc – are in close proximity to the VESA mounting holes, positioned directly beneath. The holes on this TV are at 75mm spacing. If you buy a VESA mount that is also compatible with much larger bolt positions, eg 200mm, the mounting plate will almost certainly foul or obstruct the interfaces. I had to return the mount I bought and search out a bracket with only 75mm and 100mm bolt holes and a smaller plate. Even then, there are only mm to spare when I plug my Firestick into the HDMI port.
I would encourage buyers to google a picture of the rear of the TV and then check the schematics for whatever mount you choose. I found the Ross Superior mount for 13 – 26″ TVs works well.
[…]
2. The power cable is of an extremely unhelpful design. The AC/DC power adaptor is external to the TV and part of the cable assembly that comes with it. You have a clover leaf 3-prong laptop type cable connecting the mains plug to the adaptor, and then another cable with a small DC connector into the rear of the TV. The problem is with the cable lengths – you have a fairly short ~1m AC cable to the adaptor, and then another fairly short DC cable into the telly. If you mount the TV on the wall at any height much above 1m, and have floor level mains sockets, neither cable is long enough to reach to the back of the TV. So you have the power adaptor dangling halfway up the wall which you could never conceal behind trunking. The solution is to buy a longer clover leaf power cable that reaches all the way to the bracket, and then what I have done is to mount the adaptor to the bracket using cable ties/velcro straps. Not a big deal but shouldn’t have had to do this.
Pros – 2x HDMI input, SCART, a satellite input (which I haven’t tried yet but presumably a Freesat tuner?) and the bit I like – there are 2x USB ports to the side. If you use an Amazon Firestick or a Chromecast, you can use one for your power source. The smart features seem good – iplayer, Netflix, Amazon, Now TV all built in. I’ve only tried Amazon but it works flawlessly. And a big bonus – WiFi on board.
Overall pleased with my TV but I needed to take care on my choice of mount and buy an extra cable, which is why I knocked a star off.

I have to say this TV is brilliant for my bedroom! No need for separate dongle to watch Amazon Prime and I have to say the speakers are really good too! I have paid twice as much in the past on a TV that has worse speakers than this TV. The picture is good aswell, with good amount of colour and contrast presets. Also has Audio presets too which is nice, and when I use my HD Virgin box on this it works fine at 1080p on this TV happily. I don’t know the specifics but this TV does seem to work with 1080p/i equipment I put onto it. Has good amount of apps built in too. The quality seems really nice aswell and the stand looks really stylish, and while small it supports the TV well!

It has the apps, but they are fairly rubbish. The wifi signal is great in my room and I have no problem streaming TV on my iPad or laptop, but this TV has issues finding a signal all the time. I’ve ended up having to use chromecast to watch anything on prime, nowtv or iplayer, which is a pain and essentially makes this TV not much more than a pricey monitor.

I have the UK version (LG have told me that different areas get different versions with different inputs).
First of all, it comes with 2 HDMI, 2 USB, 1 Component, 1 Scart – some outlets list it as having SVGA, which it doesn’t. Not that that is a major issue.
The picture quality – for a 720p tv – is surprisingly good and, as a classic gamer, older consoles look very good on it – as good as classic consoles can look on a modern TV. Darks are dark, motion isn’t too blurry, and there isn’t much evident light bleed from the LEDs.
The WEB OS is very responsive and does allow you to delete and download different apps. For example, YouTube didn’t come installed, but I could download it. The apps themselves work well and include Netflix, Now TV, Amazon Video, BBC Iplayer, etc.
The sound is good for a thin TV, though it isn’t the loudest or fullest. There is an optical out on the rear to attach a soundbar if needed.
Setting up the TV was quick and painless and it connected to my WIFI at the first time of asking.
It has inbuilt freeview HD which looks good (and makes you wish there were more freeview HD channels).

Great Value TV as with all LG products. Excellent picture, sound good and easy to set up.
This gets 5 stars BUT if you are mounting on a wall, choose your bracket carefully. The sockets for HDMI, aerial etc are situated so that some wall brackets could cover the connections.
I plugged in, chose the language and post code, the TV immediately found my wi fi router, asked for the password and that was it.- instant connectivity.
Plays all formats tried of video from my USB stick, even has restore last point watched on file. Amazing functionality all round
Great VFM

Picture and sound quality is very good, however the TV has a number of issues which others have also complained about, which implies that it is not just the set I received, but that there is a design flaw. In normal TV operation it is slow to respond the commands to change channel, the tv guide is painfully slow to appear and seems to have to reload each time it is accessed and the back button which should allow you to quickly switch between two channels only occasionally works. The internet connectivity is very poor and drops out regularly and consequently the “Smart” functions are best described as “not smart” and certainly not functional . BTW for the prevention of argument I was a radio transmission engineer, and I have checked my wifi signal in the proximity of the TV and it is perfectly OK. It would appear that LG need to look very closely at the software in this set, identify the faults and issue updates. I am not holding my breath. Very limited functionality hence 1 star and would not recommend to others.
