Presentation
The HOMCOM Dual Zone Digital Air Fryer arrived in a large box and was very well packaged for transport, inside the box was the air fryer complete with the dual draws, a mains leadd with a 3 pin UK standard plug, and an instruction manual as well as a small cookbook as a starter guide. There are no additional accessories supplied with the unit apart from the crisper plates which seem standard with all air fryers.
First Impressions
After extracting the unit and setting it up for use on a suitable kitchen counter top, we elected to use it the first time for baking potatoes that we were not going to eat but just to cook something so the smells of first time use (element heating up etc) were dissipated. The controls are touch to operate and simple, you simply switch on at the wall, switch on at the air fryer, select the program, time and heat you wish to use for the left and right baskets (or match the first basket) then select start using the start/pause button.
Day To Day Use
Having used this daily now for 4 weeks I can attest that it is a good, easy to operate all round air fryer – especially having obtained some additional accessories such as silicone baskets, air fryer liners and grates to place meat upon etc. There are a couple of foibles if you only want to use a single basket or you want to have different cooking times for each side – but these are pretty well explained in the booklet which also explains the presets if these are convenient for your needs. Cooking times seemed accurate for the most part with food cooked as needed – though I did find that with very large pieces of chicken breast it was best to half them as the middle was still a little pink using the preset – that or cook for a little longer.
Summary
A well built device from an unknown brand name for me, but one I now have an appreciation for given that this air fryer is so well thought out, efficient and easy to use. Good value too at under £80 at time of review.
