Bought this to replace a very old slow cooker. When it arrived I was pleased with the overall look but it didn’t appear as sturdy as my old one. However I have used it a few times including to cook a large gammon joint and also braising steak and onions without any difficulty and everything turned out fine. Actually easier to handle and to wash the ceramic inner bowl because it is lighter. Really pleased with my purchase.

I returned the first unit for Amazon credit and spent that on another thinking I just got unlucky on the first unit, but nope, they clearly have a manufacturing problem with the cut and finish of these microwaves. At the top of the doors on both the cut looks wonky and the coating of the microwave looks scuffed. You can see the cosmetic defects are all over the top front on the replacement unit, which is arguably worse than the first. The timer dial doesn’t sit vertically at 12:00 either, it’s more like 11:55 (no, I discovered that the dial has about 1/2 cm of play before you get the ratchet type feedback so it can wobble back and forth, staying in the position you left it at). On the digital version the cut quality on the door handle is not good and looks like it been attached to the glass with burr? still on it. Also I’ve noticed that the door is ever so slightly off when shut. If I look at the join lines they are off. If it didn’t have Salter on it I’d think that this was some unknown cheap brand costing 1/3 of what it does cost. What can I say, 3 units that I’m not totally happy with.
The first unit was collected from my home without needing me to print a label. The 2nd unit needs me to take it to an Evri drop off point and initially pay postage of £2.75. Mohammed the customer service agent couldn’t do anything about it, asked me numerous times to ‘please understand his limitations’. I requested to speak to someone higher up with ‘less limitations’ but was denied x3 times before he ended the chat session. Guess I’ve got to walk somewhere now holding a blooming microwave in a box
Another update,
So I ended up buying the digital version. I saw that someone had reviewed it recently and so the chances of the defects being on both type of units seemed very low. I was right and the digital version came with no cosmetic defects (but is still of sub par quality). Ideally I wanted the manual version but hey ho I have the digital version now by default.
Someone in the reviews for a microwave on Amazon asked if these are legit items from the actual named brands. I’ve got to ask this question too. The kettle I bought of the same ‘cosmos’ design is fine with no quality issue at all. What’s going on?
Another update: the damn kettle sometimes fails to trip the on/off switch and just keeps boiling without switching off. Also steam comes out of the on/off switch sometimes too. TERRIBLE QUALITY. I’ve kept them but would never buy Salter again, or at least not from Amazon.

There’s nothing that l dislike about the slow cooker they are a great quality item well worth the price paid.The cooking capacity is great if your cooking for a big family dinner. Would recommend this for anyone.
