Been using the 4 slice Haden Salcome toaster for 2 months now and here’s my thoughts:
Pros – Fits most supermarket bread slice types regardless of thickness and height of the bread. I found the taller ones toast better on their side as the slots are quite wide. – Good for toasting homemade loaves where you might cut the slices unevenly – toasting from frozen mode works well – toast strength dial has a satisfying click and allows you to toast to a personal choice level (eg 1.5, 2.8…) – buttons and dials are large, easy to read and operate – generally seem strong and sturdy – well built and looks good so hope it lasts
Cons – toasting can be a bit uneven I’ve noticed but not so much it’s been an issue for us. Whilst uneven, it is consistent so you can manage that. – breadcrumb trays are removed from the rear so it involves moving the toaster forward enough to get them out. – no bagel option/toast half a side option – higher lift up levers don’t lift up a massive amount (based on what I was expecting)

I’ve been using this toaster for a year and am really happy with it. The slots will take tall slices of bread and also thick tea cakes. The ‘lift and look’ feature is brilliant – you can have a look at how it’s doing without stopping and ejecting. The duration settings (one for a pair of slots) seem to be accurate and consistent. And even after a year of daily use it’s still looking good – no tarnishing or stains.

Found my toaster, at last. This one will do the all-important job of toasting Warburton’s toastie. Slices will easily fit in side on, which means that the whole slice is toasted without a ‘raw’ inch at the top. I used setting ‘4’, which gave me a lovely rich golden crispy slice. Perfect. Also, British company, 2 years warranty, if you like that sort of thing.

Joy – a toaster with plenty of browning range (home made bread demands more time), and with well designed crumb trays which catch most, if not all, yet without those irritating shelves along the inside of the bottom which accumulate lots of crumbs and are very difficult to clean. Perhaps the “gold” ornamentation is a bit too brash but what really matters is that it toasts extremely well.

Robust, easy to clean and it actually does what it says. All types of bread, crumpets and teacakes fit, easily. The really great thing? IT TOASTS EVENLY, no floppy corners or edges, no burning even on uneven homemade bread. Totally (Toastily?) impressed. I replaced a Smeg with this and this is a thousand times better at even toasting and controlling how much you want it toasted. On every setting it still toasts evenly. What a find !

I bought this along with the Matching Kettle.
The Toaster is very good. Toasts on both side. Toasts 4 items and wide enough for muffins.
Sadly bought the matching kettle which has pitted on the outside and the gilt on push down button worn off and looks a mess. I like matching items so will have to replace both.
