Standing on the ground doing vertical cutting, this is excellent, especially with the 2nd extension, removing the need for ladders, saved a huge amount of time and trouble. Because the motor is located close to the cutting head, horizontal cutting becomes heavy very quickly, however the reach is far superior to what I’m used to. Running time on a 4 ah original battery is a solid 45 mins. The strap is awkward; the unit is just at the wrong length to make the strap practical for most purposes. For topping the hedge, I was disappointed to see that the cutting head can’t be put in to a full 90 degree position. Whilst it can tackle hedge tops that are high, it doesn’t allow a clean horizontal cut without getting steps for high hedges. The plastic blade guard is a nightmare to try and put back on, so it rests unguarded. Overall, a great product for certain tall, vertical privet/beech hedges, for topping where you have access, but a few faults that a re-design could easily cure.
