I was surprised at the effectiveness of the trimmer, as it more fragile and the blade action is much slower than my two stroke hedge trimmer. I used it to trim a large conifer hedge and I had no problems. The huge beneifit is it’s light weight which was greatly appreciated when cutting above head height. Always remeber to oil the blades regularly.

Bought this Bosch AHS 50-20 hedge trimmer to replace my petrol one getting to heavy to use.
Have now used twice, and find it light and easy to use, specially with the three different on switches on the handle, so every easy to swap from left to right hand.
Battery life excellent, manage to do all my bushes (about twenty minutes) and still charge left, also quick to charge, I charge mine after each use, so ready at short notice.
Cutting ability, not a good as my petrol, but again this is a battery powered, and did do a good job, did cut out on a few of the thicker branches, but due to being light and easy to use, doing my bushes before getting to thick.
Would recommend to anyone looking for a light well-built hedge trimmer.
First Class Delivery.
PS still trying to register online for extended warranty, don’t seem to get onto proper part of Bosch site.

The Hedge-cutter is light, easy to use, and has very good teeth. I have used it to cut around 20 yards of hedge, one side only, and clear paths with thick weeds (such as cow parsley and teasles) growing through. I have also used it as a rough grass and weeds cutter taking swathes out of what should be a wildflower meadow, but is full of hogweed and dock… I charged the battery pack the day it arrived, and I have not yet re-charged it since… and I have used it to do all that work, over two days!!!
Thanks to Mr. Foxi’s review, I too got “can of STIHL Superclean which is expensive but specifically made for hedge trimmers. It’s a resin solvent with lubricant”. It came from Northumbrian Garden Machinery, Hedgeley Services Powburn near Alnwick. I treated it before and after use, and it is excellent stuff, very well worth it. I am convinced that using Superclean facilitates and perhaps improves the cutter. I am so pleased that I can use the cutter so easily.

I received the order 2 days after purchase so that was a good start. On first handling it feels fairly light even with the battery attached. There is a safety switch at the back of the trimmer which needs to be depressed first and then you press one of the three buttons on the main circular handle to activate the cutting blades. Generally I found it reasonably quiet and easy to use considering this was my first time using an electric trimmer. Cutting through thick branches was not a problem, some of them were 2cm wide and the trimmer cut through them effortlessly. On a safety note I would strongly advise wearing eye protection glasses especially when cutting through thick thorny branches and wearing thick gloves too. Prolonged use of the trimmer may cause temporary shaking in your arms as the trimmer vibrates a lot when in use. The shaking does go away after a while so don’t worry. Anyway would I recommend it, of course it’s a big Yes from me. It’s a bit more expensive than the other ones out there but worth it due to the high quality of the product. Hope this helps 🙂

For me, personality, I like it

I have used this trimmer for many years as I have bought two, one for my Father. They cut well, last a good ammount of time on battery charge, and the power to cut is very good considering it runs on a 18v battery. It is light too so the wife can use it too. I really recommend this trimmer.

This hedge trimmer was a compromise between one with a larger more powerful battery and one that was light enough for me to actually lift. I would say it’s a really good compromise.
The trimmer has dealt with a really tough hedge – all sorts of small trees are in it and, with a bit of effort, it’s cut through branches approx 2cm wide.
The battery has also lasted very well, my arms have got tired before the battery has run out of charge – and it charges again quickly. So far it’s probably been used for 1/2 hour at a time through thick hedge and not run out.
The plastic cover over the blade is really hard to get on an off, seems to stick on something. But overall I would definitely recommend.

Totale liberté de mouvements par cette absence de fil électrique.

I bought this trimmer without battery as I already have 2 Bosch 18v batteries with a drill. I was initially a little concerned that it wouldn’t be as good as a mains powered one, but my fears were soon dispelled when I tried it. It easily cuts through leylandii branches up to about 1.3cms thick and I have found it very easy to handle and manoeuvre. Battery life (as far as I can tell so far) is excellent.
As a footnote, the gloves that come with this are described as XL, but I found them a perfect fit for my definitely medium sized hands. They are excellent quality and I personally find them comfortable to wear while using the trimmer.

Well balanced, lightweight trimmer with great cutting blade.

Para cortar setos con ramas no muy gordas perfecto. La batería se queda un poco corta, yo compraría otra para estar cubierto

I previously used a petrol-driven hedge trimmer, but when this broke I decided to research greener alternatives. This model seemed to be well thought of so I took the plunge. And I have to say I am very satisfied with it. Lighter than the petrol one it replaced, it is easy to handle and performs better. I particularly like the fact that the tip of the blades has a section for cutting through larger than average branches (although you have to set your expectations reasonably here – this is a hedge trimmer after all, not a chainsaw!). Having had some issues with battery life on cordless, rechargeable lawn mowers, this was one area I was concerned about. But in line with other reviews, the battery life is exceptional. This year I pruned back over12m of laurel (front, sides and top) quite severely. It took me well over 2 hours of intensive pruning to get the hedge level and down to the required height, and I managed it all on one charge! The end result was the best I’ve ever achieved due to the ease of manoeuvrability while in use. Highly recommended.
