  • 1500W powerful, lightweight and manoeuvrable hover mower – floats on a cushion of air for mowing in any direction.
  • Grass clippings are mulched and returned to the surface of the lawn to act as a nutrient – they are not collected by the mower. The metal blade is sharpened on both sides and is reversible for double the blade life.
  • This mower has 4 cutting heights from a very low 12mm for a fine summer lawn and up to 33mm for spring and autumn cuts.
  • Foam covered handles and dual switch levers for extra user comfort while mowing.
  • The mower is light enough to hang on the wall in the shed, and can be stored hung on the wall or on the floor with the handles folded for more compact storage. Integrated cable hooks for neat cable management.
  • LAWNMASTER BY CLEVA – We apply the latest processes and highest standards of engineering to our motor technology, product design and build. The result is a wide range of high-quality products with exceptional performance and durability. Manufacturer of over 65 million appliances sold worldwide.

I bought this as a cheap replacement for the 30-year-old Flymo hover mower (with a 30cm blade) that I had been using to trim a small urban lawn. It is OK for the money. You get what you pay for.

I had learned from the reviews not to expect much from the instructions, so I decided to unpack everything, see what was in the box and assemble the mower using my experience with other products. I didn’t find it at all difficult, with one exception – I wasn’t sure whether the washers were designed to fix the lower part of the handle at a comfortable height for the user or whether they were to allow vertical play in the handle.

The mower comes with an instruction manual that includes two pages of diagrams that fold out from the covers. On Page 16 there is a list called ‘In The Box’. Item 5 is ‘Washer for Upper Handle (x2)’ and Item 7 is ‘Washer for Middle Handle (x2)’. The are indeed four washers in the box, two of them 28mm in diameter and two of them 41mm in diameter, but nowhere in the instructions or diagrams does it indicate which washers are which. On Page 17 the instructions even say, quite wrongly, that you should fit the upper handle together with the washers for the middle handle, but this mistake hardly matters if you don’t know which washer should go where.

I have looked again at the main photo that goes with Amazon’s advertisement. If you zoom in, you can see that the smaller washers appear to go with the fixings that secure the upper handle to the middle handle, and the larger washers go with the fixings that secure the middle handle to the lower handles. This lets the main part of the handle to move up and down when you mow.

I have mowed the lawn. The Lawnmaster worked adequately, but I didn’t find it as well balanced as my old Flymo and it didn’t seem to hover or cut quite as well either. Perhaps the problem is caused by the Lawnmaster’s deck, which is smaller than the one on the Flymo, even though the blade is slightly longer.

One more thing. The cable is black, so it doesn’t stand out well as you mow a lawn of dark grass, increasing the risks of tripping over it or mowing over it and cutting it with the blade. If I don’t get used to the black cable I will replace it with a yellow or orange cable.

Arrived very quickly. Well wrapped with an instruction leaflet. Needed assembly which was a little fiddly as the illustrations were not comprehensive so I did have to move the washers and reassemble when it was obvious that there was an issue. Not exactly lightweight for a lady of a certain age but it has a good motor which is probably why. First usage indicated that I needed the extra spacers to achieve a much needed crew cut due to pending on going monsoons! However unfortunately no arm wrestler included to remove the essential nut . Again probably not an issue for most people but I will need to flag down a local farmer to assist in the next attempt. However the grass was long and the cut did make a good impact. Noise less perfectly acceptable. Definitely a feisty little machine which delved into the overgrown boarders without complaint. Very happy with my purchase so far. On completion it was nice to wind the cord in a easy way on the appropriate handles. They also allow for a quick and tidy release for the following usage. Would definitely recommend for a small to medium garden . Price was very acceptable. This has replaced an old Flymo of similar size but currently has the edge on its predecessor.

Arrived today, assembled, tested late afternoon. Assembles easily noting larger washers go to centre; the two screws which attach the two tubular frames to the body are self-tappers, these will only screw up so far before extra force is required, the holes in the tubular are pilot only and the self-tappers cut their own thread. In mowing I needed to use extra cable, but this isn’t a problem to me. It’s worth noting that I found this machine to be excellent in use straight away. –No ‘having to get used to this-and-that’ –it all works so naturally–and I’ve never used a Hover mower before. My expensive petrol cylinder mower cannot cut some stubborn longer grasses and just flattens them; I’ve previously had to use long clippers to remove them–with this hover I was delighted that it was shearing them to order–this was without spacers–it’s obvious that the spacers would be needed for a finer cut. I especially like the double triggers; very unusual, if one hand gets tired squeezing, then change to the other hand! There’s a cord restrainer at the handle of a type I haven’t seen before–very sensible. It’s all put together with good materials and should last well–I’ve really got to say it’s a well-built job. At 96 decibels I think that’s about normal, but I’m doing what the makers suggest and am wearing ear defenders. The Instruction manual is in good English with accurate diagrams–only the four washers are illustrated wrongly–the larger pair supplied going to the centre. (they’re all the same size in the picture) Please note that these are early findings and not a long test–but I’m extremely pleased at this stage. FURTHER INFO’ After second usage of mower and changing blade height, I would recommend putting two layers of gaffa tape over the very sharp blades, just in case the plastic spanner could slip off (and it does) PLUS wearing thick leather gloves. I also found that when mowing uphill the mower can hover downhill quicker than expected, so I’m keeping the power cord well behind at all times. As previously stated, I’ve never used a hover mower before, but, at another attempt I’m still delighted with the product. I am adding this info’ purely out of conscience regarding safety for others–just watch that sharp blade!

A Hover mower that properly hovers! This replaced an old faithful Flymo of 30 years, and so far, we’re really pleased with the performance, lightness when in use, and overall cut. Was concerned about the loose handle design at first, but that comes into it’s own when in action. The mower hovers well, making mowing a medium-sized garden a doddle, getting the job done quickly and smoothly. No back aches so far from using this! Only concern is the mower makes a loud screeching noise as it starts up, this started on 3rd use, hopefully not an issue.
