I got this 12 volt DC “charger” to power a low voltage lighting strip although it is mainly marketed as a charger for electric scooters and other toys. Although said to be 12 volts, the label on it quotes 12.6 volts with a maximum output of 1 amp. I checked the voltage on my meter it read 12.89 volts but it should be fine for my intended purpose. It is not particular powerful being only rated at a maximum of 1 amp though. When in use a green LED illuminates on the plug front to show that it is receiving AC input. It is a fitted with a centre positive 5.5×2.1 mm standard male jack plug which was just what I needed. It is also said to be equipped with safety features like over voltage, over current, and short circuit protection, so should be safe to use if we are out and about with the lights still on.
So although quite low in current output it does the intended job and I think it is about averagely priced compared to others on the market.

Be aware this charger is not for 12v lead acid batteries like most ride on cars etc. I recieved the charger to find out it is a li-ion charger for lithium batteries. It will not fully charge a lead acid battery as it only charges to 12.6v rather than 14v.

I needed a replacement 12v / 1 amp power supply with the same 2.1/5.5mm barrel DC plug. So I thought I’d try this instead of a direct replacement power supply. It’s rated slightly higher than 12v but generally that’s OK.
The good news is it works fine as a power supply. The bad news is the charging light flickers between green and red all the time as the item I’m powering must not require much power during standard usage.
I wouldn’t condone doing this, but I’ve covered the LED with some black electrical tape and the light no longer bothers me.
