Amazon Customer –
Just a question of how long the machine lasts for!The last two different makes have not lasted a year. This is the best for the money I’ve ever had. Pro quality coffee maker. Fantastic Creme.

First the good news: it’s much cheaper than a bean-to-cup machine, and it does make decent coffee unless you’re fussy enough to only like coffee made from freshly ground beans and you don’t have a grinder. Like far too many modern consumer products, the manual takes up so much space trying to protect the manufacturers from lawsuits by warning you not to do stupid things that it doesn’t have enough room to properly describe how to work it. In fact some of the warnings appear to have been copied from some other device since they refer to a blender which this machine doesn’t have. The warnings say that if it goes wrong it should be returned to “a service centre” or an “authorised service facility”, but there is no information about how to find one. The web site doesn’t tell you either, but maybe you can find out by emailing the address given at support@geepas.co.uk. I haven’t tried as mine hasn’t gone wrong yet.
The manual says that the power button should “illuminate” and when it is “solidly on” preheating is complete. It doesn’t clearly explain the difference between “illuminate” and “solidly on”. When it isn’t ready yet, the power button slowly dims and brightens, and when it remains bright it’s ready. The manual says that the pumping noise will stop after about 20 seconds: actually it seems to continue as long as the machine is making coffee. I didn’t find the preheating stage with no coffee in the filter to be necessary, and I don’t really want to have to measure my coffee grounds into a hot wet filter.
There are two little pimples on opposite sides of each filter: when inserting a filter into the funnel, these have to line up with two grooves in the funnel. Once the filter is in place, you can rotate it so that the filter won’t fall out. To remove the filter, rotate it again so that the pimples line up: there is a little cut-out in the rim of the filter above one of the pimples so that you can see where it is. This isn’t described in the manual at all. There is a little lever which pops up from the handle of the filter (see photo): this also isn’t described in the manual at all: perhaps it is intended to hold the filter in place when tipping out the used coffee grounds, but that isn’t necessary if you have rotated the filter. In practice I found that the used coffee grounds won’t tip out easily
and I had to spoon them out.
When inserting the funnel into the body of the machine you need to turn it quite hard so that it is tight. If it is even a little bit loose, it can pop out when the machine turns on the pressure and you get hot water and coffee all over the place. You also need to make sure that the filter is filled with coffee grounds: I made the mistake of using the two cup filter (because I like a big mug of coffee) but not filling it with coffee grounds (because I don’t like my coffee too strong). When I took the funnel out again after the machine had cooled down, there was coffee in it and it spilled.
The clearance between the surface of the drip tray and the bottom of the funnel is about 85mm: you can get a bigger clearance by removing the drip tray, but then you have to clean up the drips. If you’re making a latte in a big mug, you need a wide shallow one of the sort that is of the sort that is sometimes sold as a soup cup. Also I recommend steaming the milk in the mug and then filtering the espresso into it as this avoids cooling down your latte by pouring it into a cold mug.
When frothing milk it has another warning not to turn the steam control rapidly in a short time which may increase the potential risk of explosion. If an explosion can actually occur, this is an unsafe device and should not be sold in the UK. However I suspect that it is in fact a mis-translation. What can happen if you turn on the steam wand and it isn’t fully inserted into the milk, is that some steam or hot milk can squirt up and scald you if you are too close to it. Make sure that the steam wand is fully inserted into the milk all the time while steaming it.
The steam wand is two concentric pipes. The outer pipe can be removed and soaked in water to remove any milk that has dried onto it, but the inner pipe does not seem to be detachable, so you have to clean it in place. This in my view is a design fault: any part of the machine which gets immersed in milk should be removable for cleaning. The plate inside the opening where the funnel fits also needs occasional cleaning as some coffee grounds can get stuck to it.
After turning off the steam, the 1-cup and two-cup buttons dim and brighten slowly. The manual doesn’t describe this behaviour or explain what it is telling you. There is a warning about the power and steam indicators blinking (the machine needs to cool down). Perhaps they are describing the wrong buttons.
The build quality looks reasonable, but I can’t says anything about long term reliability because I have only used it for a week so far. I wouldn’t expect it to last as long as a more expensive one under heavy use, but I only intend to use it for one week each year when my normal coffee making equipment isn’t available.
Mr. J. R. Brown –
THE MACHINE WAS CLEARLY OF GOOD QUALITY AND WELL ENGINEERED. AFTER FOLLOWING THE PREPARATION PROCEDURE, TWO LARGE FROTHY COFFEES WERE QUICKLY PREPARED. SINCE MY WIFE AND I BOTH PREFER LARGE MUGS RATHER THAN CUPS, WE MADE “TWO CUPS” TWICE AND FROTHED 100mls OF MILK TWICE. ALTHOUGH WE USED FRESHLY GROUND ITALIAN COFFEE BEANS OF GOOD QUALITY AND THE COFFEE FLAVOR2 WAS AN IMPROVEMENT OVER OUR PREVIOUS FILTER COFFEE, I’M SURE THAT THE FLAVOR CAN BE IMPROVED BY EXPERIMENTATION WITH DIFFERENT COFFEE BEANS. IT TOOK ME AN ENTIRE MORNING TO DECIDE TO CHOOSE “GEEPAS” DECISION, AND I’M SURE THAT I MADE THE RIGHT INFORMED CHOICE THANKS TO AMAZON FEEDBACK.
Richard P. –
I ordered this coffee machine because, as a barista, I love my coffee made a certain way. It looks good in my kitchen, since all my appliances are black, and works well. Still figuring out how to get the perfect froth for my milk, but that’s normal since every coffee machine is different. Easy to clean, you just need to wipe it out with a dump cloth or sponge, and it’s ready to be used again.

This is an unbelievably good product. It far surpasses my previous espresso coffee maker in every aspect of its use and design and at less than half the cost! !
Kelly Renwick –
Doesn’t even make a full coffee.
This machine from day 1 and I’ve had it a month has only ever given me and espresso amount of coffee everytime.
Massively unhappy with it.
Would be great to have a full cup of coffee
leighanne dean kirby roth –
Very compact compared to my last machine. Quick to warm up and makes a great coffee everytime. Very quiet compared to my previous dehlongi perfecta. Smart looking too.
Corvian Vidali –
The quality of the espresso is good, the steam works very well too.
