    Stella –

    This filter coffee machine makes decent coffee. No issues so far. The water tank is removable, it has a calc programme, keeps the coffee in the jug warm. It ticks all the boxes so overall, very pleased with this purchase.

    Lovely looking machine, easy to use, good hotplate and non drip pour, everything you want in a filter coffee machine, unfortunately the water pumps through far too quickly making extremely weak and grey coffee this rendering all the plus points usrless. Used different coffees and even doubled the paper filter but still grey and lacking in body and flavour. My old one broke so thought this would be a good replacement but disappointingly returning it to manufacturer

    My first filter machine ever was a Melitta; bought more than 30 years ago. It eventually gave up the ghost around 6 years ago. It was a small 4 cup machine and I wanted to replace it but Melitta no longer made one. SO I switched to a Kenwood K-Mix which was the right size, was fast and over the next 6 years it kept me in coffee until one day its plumbing gave up.
    A friend recommended this Melitta, took the advice a couple of weeks ago. (although it’s tad larger than the earlier one).
    I use Monsoon Malabar (Strength 4) which I fine grind daily using a Krups burr grinder. The machine delivers approximately 400ml (enough for 3 mugs) of coffee within around 5 minutes. The coffee is excellent.

    I’ve tried the Aroma feature; don’t need it but it works and I imagine that it can be useful, with enough bandwidth to give noticeable differences. in the taste of the coffee.
    it’s a bit plasticy, the stainless steel trim picks up finger prints faster than an ardent copper. So will it last as long my last one? It’s speed suggests that it uses a thermoblock to heat the water. I understand that these are prone to scaling so a regular descaling is probably going to be imperative.
    Would I recommend it? Yes. Are there better machines with timers etc? No idea but I doubt that the coffee is much better.

    Not impressed by the consistency of the coffee it makes. It seems to make weak coffee even with aromaselector on dark. Othwise quite good build quality and sometimes makes a good pot – it could be my random coffees

    Our espresso machine packed up and decided to go for something easier to clean and maintain. As those espresso filters do block all too easily, I considered a reusable filter but decided that was back to scraping grounds again, and paper filters must be easier.

    Chose this one on price and capacity, also I wanted something not too tall with a removable water reservoir and filter holder. The jug holds about four mugs of coffee and I use six measures of coffee grounds for that. The extraction temperature I set to the far left. I do not like bitter coffee, I like to taste the coffee.

    Use is as easy as filling the reservoir, putting a filter paper in, add grounds and press start. It takes a few minutes and we have coffee. Cleaning is as easy as removing a filter paper. I use the grounds to add to a composter. This step is optional.

    The warming plate will stay on for several set times, programmable. You can also program water softness, soft for us.

    So, life got a whole lot easier with this machine. We have a burr grinder now set to medium, it was medium coarse with the espresso to stop it’s filters from clogging. You can choose all the way from fine for a bitterer high extraction coffee, to coarse for a mild low extraction coffee, but mine is medium, thank you.

    Good product but delivered to Australia with a UK plug which I had to remove and replace. A small but irritating oversight on the part of Melitta. But the machine works well.

    Great coffee machine. Looks really neat and is easy to keep clean. Makes very nice coffee quickly and keeps it hot if you want (and you can choose how long you want the hotplate left on). Descaling warning is based on user inut of hardness level (get that from your local water company website). The only downside, and it’s trivial, is that you have to take the top off the water tank to fill it.

    For the money I reckon this is unbeatable. Quite quiet for a filter machine and delicious coffee with adjustable strength. Stylish, modern design but fits anywhere. Very quick, too. Love it.
