Update Edit [April 2023] Exactly 13 months from purchase, the motor of this Kenwood JE290A has completely given up and died. Clearly a poor inferior replacement model to the original in every single way! Stay away people. Buy something different.

We have been using a Kenwood KE-JE290 Citrus juicer for over 12 years. We used it probably 5-6 times a week, every week. Yes, there were a few cracks & breakages of the plastic jug and the actual cone shaped part that you press down on the fruit. These got replaced a couple of times during that period, not quite to the level of it becoming a “Trigger’s broom” because the motor continued to function and the stainless steel sieve… is metal. But sadly after a long life, the motor of our old KE-JE290 died and we recently purchased this new one on Amazon….
Disappointed to discover that this new model is not a JE290. It is in fact a revamped model. it’s now model number KE-JE290A. (And should be corrected in the description).
Aside from the motor section being taller than the original model, EVERY single plastic part is now made from thinner plastic. It really is noticeable if you have the two versions in hand to compare. It really feels like a cheap product now. Even the metal sieve is thinner – it’s almost half the thickness and now sounds so tinny when you flick it with your finger. Fortunatelly for us, the original stainlees steel sieve from our old model fits the JE290A (in fact, it fits better with less rattle than the new sieve that is included with the new model).
And incase your’re wondering, none of the other plastic parts of the original JE290 fit the the new JE290A due to Kenwood making slight tweaks in the motor height and curve of the jug.
Obviously its too early to tell if the motor in this new model will perform over an equivelent life span, but I genuinely expect to be replacing cracked/broken jugs and other plastic parts far more frequently than I did with the original model.

I purchased this juicer to replace one I have had for a number of years. Whilst it does the job fine, it is not as substantial as the old one and I do wonder if it will last as long as the old one.

Just what I wanted to juice marmalade oranges. Efficient and easy to use. Small enough toy store easily and big enough to do a big batch of oranges. Easy to clean

Got this over the weekend. A good excuse for getting some red grapefruits which it quickly squeezed dry!
It was really easy to set up, use, clean and store away. I’m so happy my family can now get a steady supply of healthy, homemade fruit juices on demand.
It does what it says on the tin and hope it lasts. Good thing though is that it’s covered by Kenwood for a year if it breaks down, but please read the fine prints!

Die Presse macht was sie soll – Saft aus Apfelsinen pressen. Das funktioniert gut, die Reinigung ist easy – einfach abspülen und fertig. Natürlich geht auch der Geschirrspüler.

The juicer design and simplicity of the operation is brilliant. But that is where good stuff stops. I used the gadget to squeeze about 3 oranges a week for about three months and it broke. And it was not that it stopped working while in use. I left it sitting in cupboard and when I felt I need some vitamin C i cut the orange, went to squeeze the juice from the first half, and all I can hear is motor grinding and clicking noise. No movement in the stem at all. Some five years ago I had got some really cheap juicer made in Turkey and sold in Lidl – It lasted for 2 years with relatively heavy use and abuse in office canteen. Who would say Kenwood would be this bad.
