It’s been working fine, althou occasional updates screw thing up. At this point, my screen hunter software seems to interfere with startup. I have to hit ctrl-alt-del and oddly enough, as soon as the task manager loads the computer works fine without me doing anything to the tasks.

I have been purchasing products from Amazon for over 10 years and this is the first review that I have written. First of all, I am very pleased with the product itself, Acer XC-830-UA 91 Desktop Computer. However, this product did not come with an 8X DVD player/writer as advertised in the product description. This was one of the primary features of this computer that caused me to purchase it. The computer tower does have an area for this feature but does not have an “eject button” on the door nor is this drive option listed anywhere on the hard-drive. Normally if I receive something from Amazon that I am displeased with I would return it as Amazon makes this process very easy. In fact, I have only returned 2 items in 10 years. However, before I discovered that this tower lacked the advertised drive, I had already downloaded Microsoft 365 Office on it as a one-time download purchase. If I returned this unit to Amazon, I would have lost the 365 Office that I purchased and would not have been able to download it to another computer. It was much easier to purchase a portable DVD player/writer than to go thru the hassle of returning this tower and losing my Microsoft purchase of $149.99. I am not sure who is at fault for this error whether it be Amazon for misrepresenting what features are on this computer tower or the company that shipped this product to me. In either event, I am very disappointed with this overall purchase. Again, I am pleased with this Acer product itself, minus the DVD drive. I just wanted other people to be aware of this issue in case they were also interested in purchasing this product. I will still remain a loyal Amazon customer.

How a small box can deliver such power mystifies me. It’s refurbished but might as well be new for the quality, speed and performance. I paid just over $300 but it seems like a PC that should cost three times as much. I only purchased the tower and the peripherals hooked up seamlessly.

I bought one of these several years ago. I had previously had computers with Celeron processors and I thought they were a little slow, but I’m not a gamer so I didn’t care much. This one, I guess because it has an SSD hard drive, is pretty snappy. Not top-of-the-line swift, but impressive. I did max out the RAM at 16 Gigs to help things along. It serves me well and I can recommend without hesitation for non-gaming folks. By the way, the fellow who wrote the review below me complained that his Acer didn’t come with a DVD reader/writer. He couldn’t find the button to operate it, which is on the door to the device itself. I wish he would come back and correct his bad review. I know he’s found the button by now.

I just needed a basic but reliable desktop PC for casual internet work, and this one fit the bill perfectly. It provides a surprising level of technology for a very thrifty price, and is a perfect match for my modest needs. It was very easy to set up, and has worked beautifully from day one.
