I was hoping these would be nice, but they’re pretty small (16″) and the plastic feels pretty flimsy. I don’t expect them to last long with my sons digging at the beach. a slight upgrade from those super cheap all plastic shovels you find littering the beach, but definitely not up to the task for rugged boys trying to dig “the deepest hole ever”.

These are not the giant sized shovels you would find at a beachside gift shop. That’s my fault for not reading the description closely, however, the pictures are a little deceptive and make the shovels look a lot bigger than they actually are. With that said, these shovels are still bigger than the smaller shovels that would come with a beach bucket set and would be most ideal for toddlers. Older kids would probably need a bigger, stronger shovel to really dig deep. We look forward to bringing these along on our next beach trip!

These are pretty small shovels, espeially for the price. The description as 16″ is accurate but not all of the pictures show eally provide the scale. One of them is misleading because the shovel is held up tto the camera from the child so it looks bigger. There is another that provides a truer scaler. The shovel may be ok for a 1-2 year old, but older child will want a bigger shovel.
The shovels themselves are well made and sturdy. You just have to be careful about who you are buying it for and what they would expect. At $13 make sure it’s what you want.
