Good kettle while it worked.
In less than 4 months, since purchase kettle has failed.
Turn it on and it fuses the whole house.
Attempting to contact Andrew James service desk is impossible, as their email for warranty claims on website is a dud.
Terrible company and terrible product.
Back to using 6 year old kettle until I order replacement.

I was looking for a kettle with a wide opening lid as my old Philips gave up the ghost on Sunday afternoon, just as we were about to make a lovely cuppa! (how rude!) Being a creature of habit, initially I looked around for the same model only to find, to my disgust, that the Philips I had bought just 3 years ago for around £30 was now retailing at £129.99! (er… what? and er …how?) So, I decided to take a leap of faith and expand my horizons with this one. I am so glad I did. It is a great kettle. Feels nice and solid (and, may I say, it looks and feels quite “posh” too). It caters for the one-cup enthusiast and can fill up to 1.7L (for the kettle aficionados out there who are VERY thirsty). The blue lights in the base are just to let you know the kettle is on (no, it doesn’t fire lasers or do your toast at the same time) but it does look really cool 🙂 I bought the kettle via Prime and it was delivered in “nothing is going to damage that sucker” packaging, at mid-day the next day, but it was easy to set up and we were having a lovely cuppa in no time. There is a slider on the handle which opens the top up, partially, but all you have to do to open it up to 90 degrees is gently lift the lid. Is there a downside? Well to be EXTREMELY picky, it could have done with the fill line on the side rather than under the handle, but hey-ho hardly anything to really moan about. The simple answer is to tilt your head and look!

I am the type of customer who prioritises speed and extra features. When I saw this kettle advertised as ‘fast,’ I was hoping it would be quicker than my old one, but it wasn’t. While this kettle is as fast as my old one, it lacks the bells and whistles I appreciate. For instance, a beeping sound to indicate when boiling is complete would have been a nice touch. That said, the kettle does have some positive features. The exterior walls have a nice finish and they do not get very hot, which is a plus for safety. You can also easily see the water level and watch it while boiling. It is lit while it is working. Also, with this one, if you lift the kettle and place it back on the base, it keeps boiling and only stops when you press the button again. These are not drawbacks—just observations compared to my previous kettle. Overall, this one is still a good buy; looks stylish and expensive and does a good job. I am satisfied.

I was hesitant to buy this kettle after reading some of the negative reviews, but I’m so glad I went for it. It’s been fantastic—great value for money and works perfectly. It’s also surprisingly not that noisy, which is a big plus!

It looks good, nothing special. Follows the crowd by using blue led lighting which I hate. I can not abide bright blue light. I dont like it, dont want it and actually it is not good for you. Why does every electronic device these days seam to have a compulsory blue light? Anyway, Andrew James is just following all the other sheep with blue lights. A missed opportunity to stand out from the crowd with perhaps a nice warm red/orange glow instead. Using the kettle is easy. The lid opens with the push of a button. Nice wide opening and easy to fill. Replacing the kettle on to the base is not as good as higher quality kettles. The base is a lot less self guiding for the kettle so it can take several attempts to actually get the kettle to sit on the base. It genuinely boils fast and quite quietly. For me the best feature is that the water pours out perfectly. No drips, no awkward angles and no spitting, no kitchen worktop drenched. It pours so well I have overfilled the cup a few times! I accept putting up with blue light as my sacrifice in order to have a properly pouring kettle.

The Andrew James matte black and chrome kettle was selected as it matched other small appliances in our kitchen.
As a rapid boil kettle, it does boil the water as expected. However, the kettle will hold the boil for what seems an extended period of time before switching off.
Boiling the amount of water you need rather than filling the kettle will save energy and electricity costs.
The kettle is not perfect though. The mesh filter is a bit of a pain to get out to clean. Also when raising the lid to add water, the condensed water under the lid drips down onto the chrome section at the top of the kettle (see the photos for a visual representation).
Another observation from a design point is that the water level view window is not that clear to read, again see the photo for a visual representation.
Overall, there is room for design improvement to make this a better kettle.
