I’ve been using the AirPods (4th Gen) for a while now, and while they’re good, they don’t quite live up to the hype or my expectations. They offer some solid features, but there are definite areas for improvement, especially when compared to the AirPods Pro.
Let’s start with the positives. The sound quality is decent. It’s not going to blow you away, but it does the job for casual listening. The mids and highs are clear, and the audio is balanced enough for genres like pop, classical, or podcasts. However, if you’re someone who loves deep bass or wants a more immersive listening experience, you might find these a bit lacking. The bass is present but far from punchy or rich.
The semi-decent noise cancellation is another area where I felt a bit underwhelmed. It’s there, but it’s not nearly as effective as what you’d get with the AirPods Pro. It blocks out some background noise in quieter environments, but in noisy places like cafes or public transport, it struggles to keep up. If noise isolation is a priority for you, this might not be the best choice.
Comfort is another point worth mentioning. For me, these aren’t as comfortable as I’d hoped. The fit is okay for short periods, but wearing them for extended sessions can become uncomfortable, especially if you’re moving around a lot. They also feel a bit loose in the ears, so I found myself adjusting them more than I’d like. If you have smaller or oddly shaped ears, the fit might be hit or miss.
Now, let’s talk about value. If you’re on a budget and can’t stretch to the AirPods Pro, these could be a reasonable compromise. They still integrate seamlessly with the Apple ecosystem, pairing effortlessly with devices and switching smoothly between them. However, if you can afford the AirPods Pro, I’d say they’re absolutely worth the extra money. The Pro version offers significantly better noise cancellation, a more secure and comfortable fit (thanks to the customizable ear tips), and richer, more dynamic sound quality.
In summary, the AirPods (4th Gen) are a decent pair of wireless earbuds, but they’re far from perfect. They’re good for everyday use and casual listeners, but for those looking for top-notch performance, comfort, and noise cancellation, the AirPods Pro are the way to go. If you can stretch your budget, skip these and invest in the Pro—you won’t regret it.

An excellent upgrade from my first gen pair. The noise cancelling is serviceable. They obviously are not anywhere near as good as over the ear or even the pros. However they do a good job and the conversation aware feature is good. The Spatial Audio is good if not a little gimmicky. They connect instantly and switch devices (within the Apple ecosystem). Battery is good and as they charge fast it’s fine for a day out or a long walk. They fit into my ear great keeping the same basic design as the pros, just with a changeable tips.

I purchased these for my Daughter.
They are extremely comfy, sound is really good and the battery life is also good.
They charge very fast, and being able to leave them in the case and wireless charge them makes life a lot easier.
They connected instantly to her iPhone 13 which was really good, i tried them on my Fold3 and it wasn’t as easy.
All in all she loves them, I love them because i haven’t had too do much in setting up wise.
All the features have made it worth the money paid.

If your ears got on with the 2’s and 3’s you should be fine with these.
Sound quality is a notch up from them, but it’s the NC which is the star of the show.
I’m not sure how apple have achieved it, but they are jaw droppingly amazing
I wear them on the bus and train and they suppress loads of noise
If like me you hate the Pro’s because of the plugs hurting your ears then these are the ones to go for

Pues contra todo pronóstico los señores de la manzana mordida me han vuelto a sorprender, y mira que últimamente me tenían bastante decepcionado (por no decir otra palabra) con los precios y las pocas novedades de muchos de sus dispositivos..
El caso es que soy de esas personas a las que no les gusta la almohadilla de silicona de los AirPods Pro metidos dentro del oído, y claro, no podía experimentar las bondades de la cancelación de ruido, hasta ahora… La cancelación de ruido ha llegado a los AirPods normales, y os puedo asegurar que es mucho mejor de lo que esperaba…
Obviamente, que nadie se espere la cancelación de ruido que proporcionan los AirPods Pro porque les falta ese “aislamiento pasivo” tan necesario para un control acústico hermético y completo. Aún así, se nota una barbaridad como atenúa el ruido que nos rodea. Los llevo usando bastante tiempo y son una gozada..
Por ejemplo, suelo frecuentar una cafetería con un ruido de fondo tremendo. Resulta muy molesto cuando saco el portátil y me pongo a trabajar, responder correos, navegar, etc., al cabo de un rato me suele doler la cabeza. Ahora, cada vez que me pongo los AirPods, el ruido se minimiza considerablemente. Se sigue oyendo algo, pero es una pasada lo que se me relajan los oídos con esa atenuación. Es como si bajaras el volumen de la tele a un volumen prácticamente inaudible. Tal cual. También los he probado en el gimnasio, y el aislamiento es notable, peeeero, cuando les da por poner música (por llamarlo de algún modo) a todo volumen se me filtra algo y resulta molesto, teniendo que subir mi propia música a un volumen más alto del habitual, y entonces sí, la cosa mejora considerablemente. Supongo que en estas situaciones los AirPods Pro serían la opción ideal, pero ya os he dicho que no aguanto las almohadillas de silicona.. En el autobús, en el metro, andando por la calle o haciendo running la cancelación activa de ruido también se agradece, el volumen de lo que me rodea baja considerablemente. No obstante, que quede claro que el ruido no suele desaparecer por completo salvo que éste sea mínimo.
Con estos ejemplos creo que os podéis hacer una buena idea de hasta qué punto atenúan el ruido…
En cuanto a la calidad de sonido puedo asegurar que es más que suficiente para el común de los mortales. El sonido está bastante equilibrado, con buena presencia de graves y medios a pesar de tratarse de unos auriculares de tipo botón. También son bastante cómodos; he podido estar un par de horas seguidas con ellos puestos y no he notado molestias de ningún tipo. Además, la batería ha aguantado sin problema..
Por último decir que la integración con los dispositivos de Apple es una maravilla. Yo los tengo vinculados al iPhone XS y al iPad Pro, y van fenomenal. Se pueden configurar con un modo adaptativo que cuando detecta conversaciones te quita la cancelación para que puedas hablar sin quitártelos. Está bastante conseguido pero puede haber situaciones en las que se active/desactive sin querer. Supongo que esta característica la irán perfeccionando con futuras actualizaciones, mientras tanto, dejo puesta siempre la opción que me cancela el ruido. Por cierto, se actualizan solos, no hay que hacer nada..
Tras esta parrafada, si no os molestan las almohadillas que se introducen en el oído, considero que debéis ir a por los AirPods Pro, porque tienen una cancelación más contundente y encima no distan mucho en cuanto a precio (siempre se puede cazar alguna oferta). Tened en cuenta que una cancelación más efectiva permite escuchar un sonido de mayor calidad. En cambio, si sois como un servidor, que no aguanta las dichosas almohadillas, os puedo asegurar que estos AirPods cumplen sobradamente. La cancelación es muy notable, el ruido se minimiza una barbaridad, y a diferencia de los Pro gano muchísimo en comodidad…

Il suono è ricco, bilanciato e dettagliato. L’audio spaziale personalizzato è sorprendente, soprattutto con Apple Music o Netflix: ti sembra davvero di essere “dentro” la scena.
L’audio adattivo regola il volume in modo intelligente, in base all’ambiente – molto comodo in movimento o in città.

Funziona perfettamente: elimina il rumore del traffico, della metro, o di un ambiente affollato. La modalità trasparenza è naturale, sembra quasi di non avere nulla nelle orecchie, perfetta per ascoltare l’ambiente o parlare con qualcuno senza toglierle.

The sound quality is inferior to the standard wired Apple earphones that cost about twenty pounds. Also, after trying various tips and charging methods I have found the play time to be much lower than 4-30hrs advertised. The write up is misleading in that it says 4 hrs, then 20 hrs then 30 hours with case – how would you use airpods with a case? In addition, when I tried to return them Amazon Customer Services were highly obstructive. I missed the return window by 2 weeks and despite UK law stating a refund is perfectly applicable within 6 months (and later sometimes), Customer Services refused and insisted I return them for an inspection – meaning I don’t have an £165 item while they fob me off. Really poor services and clearly a warning to customers NOT to buy Apple products this way. I doubt this will be published – poor show Amazon.

Great earphones, so my son has said they are for him.
I would just like to add how great Amazon has been with this item, the first pair we ordered unfortunately went missing at a royal mail department in Scotland, someone signed them as delivered. I was not best very happy there’s are not cheap and its steeling. Anyway Amazon sorted it out with me brilliantly, with no hassle and very quickly. They gave me a full refund so we could order some more. 5 * Amazon one very happy customer.
