Handles video editing extremely well and is great at uploading and downloading large files. It has a good range of input ports. Colours on screen are great. It’s taken a while to get used to the position of the on button because it is so different to all my previous laptops which I am still using. Nice styling too. I’ve been overdue for an upgraded device, but it’s been worth the wait.

Wrong description the screen isn’t oled. It’s lcd screen.

I loved the look and performance but sadly there wasn’t enough RAM and not enough USB ports. RAM could NOT be upgraded to 32GB max. My fault as I didn’t read it fully. It’s a nice laptop though, great for students or business. Don’t recommend it for serious gamers.

From what I’ve experienced so far this laptop is has a nice build, has a nice keyboard and nice quality display I don’t think its oled but its 2.8k and gets decently bright. Its fast so it can handle CAD/ Coding for Engineering students and can play AAA games at 120 fps+ on low settings such as Fortnite. Fan noise when under stress is a bit loud but not in an obnoxious way like an old gen console. And it doesn’t get uncomfortably hot on the keyboard or under the laptop but it blows very warm air on the left side vents. Some downsides I’ve already noticed is that the sound quality is 5/10 at best, it can get somewhat loud but the actually quality for a laptop is just meh. This doesn’t matter if you use speakers/ earphones often like me. The battery is also mid. It’s more of a 3-4 hour use laptop rather than an 8+ hour one. Also the trackpad is a little rattly, it almost feels worn out before you hear the audible click. So I’m worried about the longevity of it down the line in 5 years.
I haven’t experienced any backlighting, extremely poor battery or any major faults that would make this laptop a deal breaker.
I will try and give an update review after using it for a month or 2. Until then, I highly recommend this laptop for most students and casual-competitive gamers

The laptop has LED bleed around the edges, generates a lot of heat, even when idle and on charge. The trackpad was loose, so made clicking noises when just scrolling.
Positives – Good overall build quality on the casing and shell. Very good price for specs.
Negatives – Defective unit. Too much heat, bad quality screen and loose trackpad.
I wanted a replacement. But Amazon said that they could either repair it or I could return it, but they would not replace it. The price went up by £250! I should have bought it from another retailer. Too much time wasted with Amazon on trying to get a replacement.

Very happy with the upgrade from a Dell XPS 15. The OLED screen is so much better than LCD and the 3K resolution is ideal – vibrant colours and sharper than 2K Full HD. I’ll never go back.
The rest of the laptop has surprised me how great it is for the price – it can handle anything I throw at it and plays games on high settings, such as Alyx for VR.
The keyboard is good for typing and the ports are all there.
ASUS have really upped their game with this laptop – the quality is so much better than the last of their laptops I tried.

The laptop is a beast. Usually this kind of power is in a thick and loud gaming laptop. But this one is thin and light yet even more powerful. I would expect the fans to be very loud under load, but even that is not the case. Best value for money ever!

It’s very light, and most importantly the charging brick is light enough and sleek for how much power it can supply (200w). Screen looks amazing. Speakers are ok-ish. It’s powerful for productivity tasks (handles lots of tabs open, as well as vs studio and vs code at the same time). Battery life is quite bad (2-3h), but usable if in a pinch, I think you can get better results if you completely turn off the d-gpu. Very good selection of ports, and the sd card reader is very useful. Upgradeability is ok, the only issue I have with it is that only one ram slot is upgradeable. Overall, I’m very happy and suits my needs well. If you want a powerful oled laptop without spending too much, with barely any compromises, this is the one.

I bought the ASUS Vivobook Pro 15 M6500RE for £659.89 on 20 October 2024, hoping it would be a solid machine for everyday use and some light video editing. Unfortunately, it’s been nothing but frustrating.
While the battery life is decent, the overall performance is shockingly poor. It’s extremely slow when using external hard drives, and lags constantly, even with basic tasks. I tried running video editing software—completely unusable due to stuttering and freezing. Worst of all, it can’t even stream Netflix smoothly without lagging or dropping frames.
This laptop should perform much better with a Ryzen 7 and RTX 3050 Ti, but it simply doesn’t. Maybe it’s a software or thermal issue, but as it stands, it’s not fit for purpose.
Don’t buy this unless you have unlimited patience or plan to use it as a paperweight. Hugely disappointed.
