Heavy!. I’m a 30yr old, reasonable size and build and holding this straight upwards to trim a very tall hedge line, it gets heavy quickly. I used it this once and will instead get a cordless battery powered lightweight one. If not doing a lot of overhead trimming im sure it’s otherwise fine but then that defeats the 2m extension pole. Cable is shorter than I’d like. In my opinion this trimmer should be priced around £60. For the price I paid there are definitely better options.

This is a well-designed and robust product, and good value. It has an ergonomic and well balanced design, an extensible reach and blades that can be angled using a simple push button. The reach is extended by simply flipping a latch on the side of the unit, pulling the unit to the required length and closing the latch. The features include:
1) Powerful 550W motor delivers 1600 strokes per minute.
2) 180 degree pivoting head locks into 5 different positions for greater access when trimming.
3) Telescopic pivoting handle for high hedges (180-235 cm).
4) 51cm blade length and 22mm blade gap.
Fabulous –
Blade good but could be better. I like the way the length is achieved by pressing a button as my previous Ryobi hedge cutter had to be unscrewed and dismantled which was inconvenient . Height reach could do with being a little bit better but on the whole good value for money and would buy again.

Amazing how much more power than cordless!
Last year cutting conifer hedge took two days, this year only one.
We also have a very similar one in rechargeable, it does not compare.
The motor is so much more powerful.
It’s a tall , big conifer hedge but there is no waiting for recharging the battery.
Hedge had sharp clean cut.
It is heavier than the cordless, but if it makes the job 50% less time then it’s worth it.
Our cordless one is now redundant.
We did not even extend this. The hedge is at least 9 foot high.
Have not used the tilt, we can get to the top by other means, (neighbours shed) so can’t comment how that is.
So glad we got this.

This trimmer did make easy work of the parts of my hedge that were at the right height for it so it was worth buying.
A lot of reviews mentioned that it was heavy but it I weighed it at 4.5Kg (including cord) so the weight was inline with expectations. Obviously the central of gravity is a fair distance from the handle so you have to expect to have to cope with this. I’m medium build and no body-builder but found it OK to handle.
It comes with a plastic sleeve over the blades which I’d assumed could be used for re-storing, but it is not designed to be reused. I did cut myself whilst trying to carefully remove it. I should have just used a knife or lever and destroyed it to remove. (I’ve refrained from attaching a bloody photo!)
The cord exits at the end of the handle which means the device can’t be stood with that end on the floor without risk of damage.
There is no provision for storing the cable so I’ve bought some Velcro straps.
To summarise: it’s good enough but it’s disappointing that a few low cost details have been missed. For me, still worth the money.

Exactly as expected but you need to perfect the technique of using over a while. It’s not instantly easy to use so take time and start gently. Worth the effort and money to get the result. I have the mains power version so cable routing needs thought too.

I found this hedge trimmer cuts efficiently. It can easily be adjusted to trim hedge tops and sides as well as to sweep low for ground clearance. It is quite heavy for an older to person to use for long periods. With the power switched off the blades stop very quickly, which is a good safety feature.
