First of all the kettle pictured is NOT the kettle listed. The picture on the box (see photo) is accurate. The listing picture seems to match the Swan catering 3.5l kettle (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Swan-Stainless-Steel-Catering-Kettle/dp/B002EC8UE0/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=Swan+kettle+3.5&qid=1632497938&sr=8-3 ), which I also happen to own. This has a more rounded handle (slightly more comfortable grip), a rounded spout (slightly less precise) and a different element set up (it sits much lower inside, and therefore allows you to boil less water as a minimum – though this may be less of a consideration for someone looking for such a big beast of a kettle).
Second, the kettle contains a maximum of 3.5 litres NOT “35l”. I noticed this straight away as (a) I could lift it and (b) I would be unable to climb inside, if I wanted. This was not a consideration when I bought it.
Third, it works. A bit faster to heat a full kettle than the Swan, but these are inevitably slower than a regular electric kettle. It pours well. It doesn’t leak. The lid is an excellent snug fit.
Fourth, longevity? I’ve not had it long enough to judge, and other reviewers who have said theirs have failed haven’t been kind enough to say how. My Swan kettle “failed” after a bit more than 3 years, but that was just a plug issue, easily replaced via Amazon – now working fine again. One reviewer has noted an issue with the cord not being held securely enough in the kettle socket and I agree, it does seem to be a loose fit on the sides and does need to be very firmly pushed in. This might well be an issue in the medium term – the socket just needs to be a little less wide to make for a snug fit (not a fault of the plug, I have tested with replacement plugs). The differing element arrangement from the Swan might become significant, and living in a hard water area will inevitably test this. And the casually inaccurate listing leaves me more concerned than I might be otherwise (I have reported it via the usual channel to Amazon, so this might be corrected). No doubt, if it fails unreasonably, I’ll be cross enough to edit this review.
Overall, very happy so far. If there is a quality control issue, it is with the listing on this site, not the kettle itself. In performance, it matches the slightly more expensive Swan kettle, which is as good a review as I can give.

We bought 2 for our village hall, brilliant

Good to use

The title says it all.

Bought this for our village hall. We had aor sophisticated model with a “keep warm” facilitybut users frequently left the “keep warm” on when they finished so I decided a simpler model was better
Prune Tarter –
The kettle is of 3.5ltrs and not as described as 35ltrs.
It’s hard to find large electric kettles these days.
Robert J Barnes –
The cable comes off easily. It takes a while to boil water- almost the same as doing two kettles after each other
