I bought this table because it folds, and can be stored flat against a wall, whilst also looking as if it was fairly solid and of decent quality. When it arrived I wasn’t disappointed.
What you get is a nicely finished and very solid oiled acacia wood table. There is a small amount of assembly required to put the legs together, but anyone familiar with basic DIY will able to do this inside ten minutes. It isn’t difficult unless you are unfamiliar with using a screwdriver and following some assembly diagrams, in which case I would advise getting someone with DIY experience to help.
The quality of this solid wood table is excellent, and as I had hoped, it is made of decently thick wood, so it is also pretty durable. My only slight reservation is the stop mechanism for the bi-fold leg, which seems a little clunky in its design. This is one aspect that could perhaps be improved, I don’t like the fact that when unfolded one ends up with two metal faces pushed together that don’t quite fully fit the space allowed. The mechanism seems to rely on the landing pad being slightly too thick for the bracket so that the leg fold ends up locked in tension. I think a magnetic closure might have been more elegant, but in practice it seems to work ok,
We bought this table hoping to use it not in the garden, but instead as a space saving indoor table, allowing us to free the space in our dining room for another, secondary, purpose. I was a little concerned that it might prove too flimsy, or look out of place, but I needn’t have worried. The table looks very presentable, and lends the room a charmingly quirky inside outside look.
All in all, for the price, I would say this table is an unbeatable proposition. Ideally I would like to have bought the matching chairs, but at time of purchase these were ironically rather more costly than the table, so instead I have obtained some other (almost matching) acacia wood chairs from a different supplier, and they will have to do for now. I may still upgrade to the proper Charles Bentley chairs later on, if funds permit.
All in all this a great table for the price, and far nicer than any alternative that I could find.
