Too messy to clean

I noticed no reviews or feedback and thought I would take a risk as I was in need of a juicer when my Nebula grande had died on me (just old age and to be expected) So I had a few specifics I had wanted from a masticating juicer and for me the main minus point is that it can be quite loud when it is in full swing of juicing everything ( but not a numatic drill loud or as insane as the centrifugal machines) It is just a loud whirring that isn’t too bad = less than a henry hoover perhaps a good comparison and I only noticed as by comparison it was louder.
The main plus point is the large shoot (chute?) for adding the chopped veg and fruit. I like how the push down arm thingamebob fits in two ways so you can really help push it down and it actually works better imo than the more expensive machine I had. Make sure you double check the instrucions on closing the lid because it is really easy to open and close, except if you put it on slightly off kilter it wont start up as a safety feature (like most of these machines) and you may assume it is not working , especially with lack of reviews etc.
The strainer is a nice touch that slots on the top of the jug for the juice to come out- which I found was very fast a process and as long as you do not overload the machine and clog it, it will be just fine. CLeaning it was really easy too.
I mainly use my juicers for once a week health shots that i do in one go and make a batch :
2 pineapple
2 grapefruit
apples and/oranges
lemons and/limes
ginger and fresh turmeric (I always wear gloves and peel both with spoon before chopping smaller to aid machine)
Carrots
Celery
Cucumber
So this I put the machine through on its first go and it did a nifty job- didn’t rely on the strainer that it provides as I usually use a seive anyway but the pulp came out lovely and dry and the juice very finely strained. I really recommend this as an upgrade from anything smaller you are used to or a first time masticating juicer- honestly its an investment in your health and you wont regret it x

No doubt that this machine extracts juice our of leafy vegetables, beetroot and fruits. The feed chute is large enough to save time from cutting veg and fruits in small sizes. But, the auger is not strong enough. It is broken just after a week use. Most of the time I made juice out of beetroot and carrot.
Overall, the quality of the product is not great.

I am not an expert with Juicers but this is fabulous. Honestly it was worth the buy. Its pretty tall and multiple parts to wash but the juice it produces makes up for those. No regrets

This thing is big! and heavy, very well packed, each item wrapped in paper and nestled in a cardboard tray to hold each piece in place (I was very glad I had taken the photo as I needed to put the thing away again and the reference was helpful. I juiced 5 pears and got 400ml of juice. I did not strain the juice and the result was a really nice thick juice. As you can see from the video the pulp coming out was pretty dry – I wasn’t sure what to expect, there is a photo of it in my hand and it didn’t feel particularly wet.
The cleaning was OK, there’s just a lot of it, there were bits of pulp all over, pears are not the easiest to juice I think. The juicer is big, and my kitchen if tiny and so this will not be in constant use but as a juice extractor it seems pretty good to me. I am not going to claim expertise and the last juicer I had was probably in 1997 – it’s a lot better than that, but that would be expected.

So this is a “masticating” juicer, which crushes and pushes the fruit through a screen to separate the liquid from the remnants (as opposed to a centrifugal juicer which just shreds and obliterates the fruit, reducing it to liquid, and also aerating it, which oxidises it and encourages it to go off faster). The point being, this is supposed to be much more efficient and quieter about it, albeit slower.
In practice, it does work, but not as well as I’d hoped. I’d done my research on similar juicers, and noticed how they all managed to push the fruit through the auger, and expelled very dry pulp. Some, for only a nominal amount more, included additional functionality like making smoothies, by allowing you to process semi-frozen fruit, etc.
This Cooks juicer didn’t bowl me over with any of that. Of course, it juiced the main bulk of the fruit easily enough, but it was also expelling juicy pulp too, i.e. there was more juice to be squeezed. I tried a couple of Granny Smith apples, and there was pourable, drinkable juice expelled into the pulp jug. That’s not good.
However, by far the biggest gripe I have is that, the gap between the auger and cover is so wide that the ground fruit easily makes its way back UP the auger, rather than being forced down into filtration. And then gets stuck at the top with no means to push it back down. It just sticks there because it’s still wet.
We had to stop/start/reverse the machine several times, and even open it to push the mush down into the auger to get any kind of movement, and even then our efforts would be undone when we turned it back on. We left it for several minutes, and threw more fruit at it hoping to encourage it into pulling things down, and it just led to slowly grind things into a puree.
This wasn’t with just one type of fruit either; we tried apples, strawberries, bananas, grapes, pears, etc, all in differing order. Everything just wanted to stick to the top and not make its way down.
Bottom line, so long as you’re feeding it fruit, etc, it’ll work fine. It’s just the last part that it completely fails on, and that’s going to happen every time. It’s severely annoying to say the least, and is not something I saw exhibited on others that I checked.
So for those reasons, I’m marking it down because it only has one job to do, and it’s not doing it very well at this price point. It doesn’t appear to represent the best value or functionality. I marked it down 2* for (a) not feeding the pulp down properly, and (b) for expelling juice with the pulp, thus wasting the juice. It’s easy enough to make a juicer that’ll mostly work, the trick is in making it work properly and this one doesn’t. That’s a significant issue imho.
As far as dismantling it, etc, that’s simple enough. The pieces just slot and slide together, and are simple enough to rinse and clean.
It comes well packaged, with each component paper wrapped and all packed together in a cardboard-mache arranger, which unfortunately got destroyed as we took it out. This isn’t something you’re going to get back into the box once you’ve taken it out, so be aware you’ll need to find place for it once it’s set up.
