I really like this design. The steps ensure that all of the plants you place on them have infinite clear space and light directly above them into which they can grow at will. Bought to replace one that was vertical bamboo slatted shelving, one shelf directly above the other. This looked pretty untidy in the end, as the plants kept straining to grow forwards at an angle out of each other’s shade, leaving the back of the lower pots bare earth. The bamboo one also cost the same as this one, but fell apart after a single season outside on my deck. The tiny tacks came out of the slats due to the weight of the plants, and finally it was so wonky that when the window cleaner brushed past it he became the mortified cause of a cascade of soil and tomato plants. It took me 5 minutes to assemble this solid, painted metal replacement, which is unfussy, elegant looking and fits under the kitchen window almost as if it was designed to do that! It lets the plants provide the display while it just disappears into the background and does its job well. We’ll see how it survives the winter, but so far I think it punches well above its pricepoint.
