Options seem to be quite limited if you only want a single cup coffee machine around this price, and while this does have flaws I’ll get into, I’m still overall happy with it.
Issues first, it’s quite inefficient. As the water doesn’t actually have contact with the coffee for that long, it uses quite a large amount of the beans when making a brew. Before this I used a hario v60 manual dripper, usually filling the scooper up to the very top, around 12 grams. This machine uses considerably more than that, 16 grams of coffee for each cup, even for the smallest cup, add to that issue two, wasted grinds.
After using the grinder, be sure to tap it from the top multiple times, or a surprisingly large amount of ground coffee will fall out from it onto the tray, even after doing that I often end up piles of excess ground coffee under the tray. I’d recommend always keeping the spare coffee pod stored open under the grinder after use.
Between these things I do find myself getting though coffee a bit faster than I used to.
I also find the pods a bit of a hassle to clean, especially as you have to do it after each coffee or they’ll start to stain easily, don’t get this machine if you want to be able to make multiple cups of coffee before having to do cleaning.
You also can’t adjust the amount of coffee used, only the amount of water, this has been an issue for some reviewers, it was for me at first, but this machine also just works well as a coffee grinder so I keep a little jar of extra ground coffee aside, and if I want the largest cup setting, I’ll just add a little extra ground coffee to the pod and it’s been fine.
The smallest cup setting also isn’t the hottest cup of coffee in the world, despite the other options being plenty hot enough.
Sounds like a lot of negatives right? Why is this a four star review? Because to channel twin peaks for a moment, “damn fine cup of coffee”
It just makes very good coffee, very consistently, especially coming from manual brewing, it’s nice that you can make each cup of coffee consistent, and consistently nice, and you can add even more coffee if you like it really strong, but even as someone who likes quite strong coffee, I’m happy with the strength as is for the first two cup settings. Despite only being the medium option, the second option is a good size for most of my mugs, the large setting requires a huge mug.
Also, as much as I have a low capacity for annoyance at washing small things up regularly, the machine is very satisfying to use. It’s not technically purely bean to cup, as you grind the beans into the pod, then insert the pod into the machine, but the grinder is great, people claim it’s loud but yeah, it’s a coffee grinder, they’re loud, but as far as coffee grinders go this has been on the lower side of noisy, and works great. Slotting the pod in ans closing the lid is satisfying, and it makes the coffee quite fast.
Lil aside about the brewing process I like, the burring sound of the machine making the coffee changes pitch downwards as it’s almost done and the process is finishing, and to me it sounds like a (much quieter) foghorn from a boat. Makes me feel like a miniature boat in the kitchen is letting me know that my coffee is done. It’s cute.
It also doesn’t take up too much space and I quite like the way it looks on my counter, and that you can see the beans too.
So yeah, it does have some issues and annoyances, but it makes a good cup of coffee and I think it’s good for the price

Cuisinart generally makes excellent coffee makers, particularly filter coffee machines. They used to produce a popular one-cup filter machine that made great coffee but was difficult to clean. It’s clear they’ve tried to develop a model that handles single cups and is easier to clean, which they’ve achieved. However, this newer version unfortunately produces poor, inconsistent coffee with varying temperatures. I imagine that in a country where K-cups (Keurig) are available, this machine might perform more consistently, but that’s not the case here in England. The one I had would intermittently fail to work, and it was difficult to get the right balance of coffee volume, despite it theoretically grinding the perfect amount. It’s a nightmare dressed as a daydream.

Fantastic bit of machinery, does exactly what it says on the tin, coffee grinder is a little bit noisy but it’s ok, easy to use, and the best bit, for any coffee lovers in a truck or campervan, using a modified or quasi sine wave inverter, this works perfectly, unlike almost every other coffee machine out there. The only downside, I wish I could find disposable paper filters for it, as it’s a pain to clean out when living in a truck without running water. I’m sure someone will make some soon tho.

Don’t normally write review, but I deliberated over this for a long time and previous reviews really helped me, so it’s only fair I add my bit for future deliberators :o)
The coffee machine is really easy to use and clean. Most importantly, it makes lovely coffee and you can adjust the strength easily by letting it grind full period (strong) or stopping the grinding earlier (weaker).
There is a tiny bit of fine powder left at the bottom of the cup after drinking, which means just don’t drink the very last sip, which is no hardship.
The machine hasn’t got a big footprint, a bonus in my little kitchen.
I prefer this fresh bean grinder over pods which will always be more expensive to buy. You have the choice of nice beans to taste and can always add flavours (or the odd drop of alcohol) yourself if you so wish.
I can heartily recommend this little machine!

Really pleased with this item! For a bean to cup that’s at the budget end of the market this is surprisingly good. Fits neatly in with my other machines, versatile in that it grinds extremely well but also can use pre ground coffee. No mess with removable and easy clean filter pod and it makes a very good coffee!

I bought this to replace a stove top coffee maker and separate grinder. I found that solution messy, although consistent. I thought this all in one grinder and one cup filter system would be a tidier way to make coffee for one. How wrong was I..
When grinding the beans into the reusuable filter, it also sprays my kitchen surface with coffee grinds. I end up wiping down the surface multiple times per day. I cannot believe this is the intention. I’m using it exactly as instructed (you can’t really get it wrong because the filter slots on to a specific place) but the ground coffee coming out of the grinder has a short distance to fall before reaching the filter and is obviously hitting the top edges of the filter and some gets redirected. It’s not a closed system between grinder and filter.
The coffee it makes is pretty consistent and hot (which not all machines achieve) but it’s very messy. I can see myself replacing it at some point. It’s pretty annoying.
The unit is smart and not too large and looks pretty durable. Easy to set up and use but the messy nature of it is an issue.
