Bought this toaster last October not excessively used. We did leave it plugged in to the mains overnight. We were woken by our dog a few nights ago at 4.30am the toaster was starting to burn- had the dog not woke us we would have had a house fire. I contacted Daewoo more as a safety concern than anything else they were very dismissive and uninterested, I’m sure many people leave toasters plugged into the mains when not using we have done with multiple toasters over the years. For that reason I would not recommend this product or brand. I also now unplug appliances at night.

Great kettle stylish too

a nice looking kettle and cheaper than some other makes. However after nine months of domestic use
started leaking badly making it dangerous to use. Returned to Amazon under the warranty [of one year]
Amazon were extremely helpful and a refund arranged and collection.
Moral of the tale cheaper is not always the best option

As described, stylish. It’s just what I wanted and sits well in my kitchen. One of the biggest plus points is the covered element – easy to clean, and also the no drip from the spout. Not quiet but it does boil quickly so that’s ok. Recommended as the best I’ve seen lately in this price range and good value.

Am reviewing black pyramid kettle
Pros:
Easy to lift, hold and pour, as long as not too full
No dribbles or danger of scalding yourself
All stainless steel inside, except for 2 little plastic plugs covering the fixings for the water level indicator and a cover for water gauge tube, which is above water level anyway
Good taste from day 1
Reasonably quiet for this price range, but if you’re looking for a really quiet kettle, look elsewhere
Has a metal sieve/filter insert in spout, which itself looks durable, however, how it’s fixed is a definite con
No wobble on base
2 year warranty – so it says on box, but no warranty card included
Cons:
Lid fits very tightly and has to be pushed down with quite a bit of force and opening it also requires more force than it should, however the ring on the lid is easy to grip
Black finish will scratch easily, I’d guess
Metal sieve insert was very difficult to get fixed in place after I’d removed it, before using, now having used it a few days, it’s impossible to get out again.
Full review:
I prefer pyramid or dome kettles to jug kettles, as find them easier to hold and pour from when full. Also, always buy stainless steel kettles. My last kettle was Aicock, which broke within 10 months.. I found the current selection of dome or pyramid kettles somewhat limited and would’ve preferred plain brushed stainless steel finish, as more durable. The black finish looks very smart and will match any decor, but as said, looks to be easily scratched to me. So far, have managed to avoid it.. See edit below after longer use.
For me, the biggest con is the way the sieve insert is fixed into the spout and the annoyingly tight lid. The sieve insert looked the same as the one in my last kettle, which was easy to remove and replace for cleaning. But once I removed it as a test, I found it very hard to get it to stay in place again. There are 3 little tabs, and found that it would only stay in with one tab at the top, and now, it’s so tightly wedged in that I cannot get it out. Even tried to pry it away carefully with tweezers, inserted between rim and kettle, but would not budge and cannot push it loose through spout. I live in a hard water area, so the sieve quickly collects chalk residue, and needs to be removed to rinse it.. so far, I’ve run water into the spout, and emptied it by holding kettle upside down, but it’s far from ideal. The sieve insert is one of most important features in a hard water area, I find. The metal ones are a big improvement over plastic for durability, however, being able to easily remove and replace it is also essential. A more minor issue for me is the tight fitting lid. I didn’t pay much attention to it at first, but with repeated use, it has become quite annoying to have to push it down with so much force.
As to noise, it’s not so loud that you have to shout when it’s on, but you would definitely have to raise your voice, and that’s while it’s still new..
It does boil a full kettle quite quickly, though. Would also not call it rapid boil, but it’s fast enough for my needs.
I purchased the extra 3 guarantee for £3.99. This covers accidental damage for 3 years after purchase, and breakdown for 2 years, starting 1 year after purchase. I was a bit annoyed to discover it has 2 years warranty as standard, but this gives me an additional year cover, so is maybe worth it.
I will try and upload a photo or 2 showing inside of kettle in next few days..
The issue with the sieve insert, and even the tight fitting lid, might be a one-off.. Otherwise, would’ve given 5 stars, but those 2 issues combined are definitely enough to deduct a star for me. I’d say this kettle is worth a try, bearing in mind the issues mentioned.
Edit: a
After 2 years use, can now say with certainty that the black finish scratches very easily. In some places, it has worn away altogether, showing silver metal underneath, although I tried to be careful. Just filling up caused damage to finish, where it’s touched the sink or tap. Also, it shows up chalk marks, which are almost impossible to remove without damaging the black finish. Below the spout, some white swirls have formed, which are light chalk residue, that I would probably not notice on a stainless steel finish, but on the black, make it look dirty even when it’s not.
If you over-fill this, it IS actually hard to pour from, and splashes and dribbles, although this only applies when it’s very full.
Still cannot get filter insert out from spout. Lid is still very stiff to remove and replace. But it’s still going strong after 2 years, despite me having totally neglected to de-scale it so far.

Stylish .quiet. just to note the lovely shape means it holds a lot of water at the bottom so if your trying to get 1cup it can be tricky.
