Still working. despite all the abuse. Good value for money. Good performer if you want a vacuum cleaner that works well without all the gimmicks.

We had a DC04 for many (at least 8 if not more) years and were happy with it. When we got 2 long-haired cats, however, it began to show its age and couldn’t really keep up with the copious amount of hair they shed, so we invested in the DC14 Animal. The results have been amazing – haven’t even had to use the special animal hair turbo head thingy, either, as the main upright cleaner does it all beautifully. We not only suffer from cat hairs, but also cat litter, from our indoor cats, and this machine certainly does NOT just flick the litter around (see negative review). It sucks it up beautifully, without leaving a trace anywhere. I did go into a high street store to try out one of the new Dyson Ball vacuums, but found it very cumbersome, heavy and not at all comfortable to use, so decided to stick with the ‘old fashioned’ approach. I suspect that some will like it, while others won’t. Just as long as Dyson continue to give us the choice! Incidentally our old DC04 has never broken down, but has had to have at least 3 new hoses. BUT, it’s still well worth it in the long term – no other vacuum has ever managed to out-perform Dysons for us, and the price of a couple of hoses is not great (in fact we got the first 2 under the terms of the guarantee, so they cost us nothing). The DC04 hasn’t finished its useful life, so is now going to go to my son’s cat-free home, where I’m sure it’ll continue to earn its keep wonderfully.

Our trustworthy DC07 was getting a bit long in the tooth (aided and abetted by the Missus deciding to vacuum the driveway!) so we decided to get an up to date version. The DC14 is lighter, quieter and more powerful – we really wanted the Allergy version but the Animal is higher spec and was cheaper too!

Well done Amazon – great value and very quick delivery.

ps the new iron/titanium/platinum colour scheme is so much more classy than the old purple.

This vacuum cleaner is probably the most powerful one we have owned. and having a Cavalier King Charles spaniel that shed fur every day we need to be on top of cleaning the floor. this Vacuum can be used on most floors but be warned .. ear plugs or have your music headphones on .. its sooooo noisy and gets your ears ringing after a while.

onboard tools are good , no ned for bags
emptying is a doddle and just wipe clean with a damp cloth.

This was the second Dyson I bought in the hope that the first was just a one-off duff. I was wrong. At first, the suction was incredibly good, but over a period of time it had lost a large amount of suction even though it had been cared for properly. Eventually the suction was so poor, it did not pick up effectively. Pretty much the same pattern as the first Dyson which was a different model. The hose broke after a year and it is heavy and very noisy and can be difficult to manoeuvre. Considering the price of a Dyson I would expect a far superior performance than this. I now have a Miele on the advice of many people and have discovered that this brand has swept the board in awards for appliances in general, particularly vacuum cleaners and are a firm favourite of Which? magazine. I have a Miele cylinder Cat & Dog TT5000 (because it’s smaller and lighter than an upright) which has an adjustable suction dial and it’s brilliant. I’ts cleaning power is amazing and it is very quiet. Miele also do upright models with adjustable suction and swivel neck joints for navigating around furniture (S7 Range). This range also lies down flat for vacuuming under furniture and even though they use dust bags they are incredibly clean and easy to change and the dust bags are very cheap to buy. Check the range out on their website miele.co.uk before you decide. My advice is buy a Miele. In my experience a Dyson is Amazing, but only for a short period of time.

    Not a great recondition job.

I like the power of the machine but wow it is very heavy. I would have ordered a different one if I had known in advance. There were no instructions in the box and it could have been any Dyson as there was no indication on the machine.

As expected my new dyson is as good as I remember it to be – had a different vacuum for a bit and so glad to be back to one that is so easy to use and empty. I would also like to add a thank you to Amazon who delivered our order so very very quickly – what service!
