   This is exactly what you would expect form a Dyson. It cleans easily (the ball makes it very nimble) and the suction is exceptional.

   I got this to replace my old Vax and it’s in a different league completely.

   As other reviewers have said, even on a clean and regularly cleaned carpet I still managed to get a lot of sand/dust out the first time I used it.

   The waste bin is not huge, and will need emptying after each use really, but it’s not really a problem as since it doesn’t use bags the procedure is very quick and simple with no mess at all.

   One negative is that the pull-out extension has a very stiff pipe and I have not managed to fully extend it without pulling the vacuum over – maybe it get’s more supple with use but I don’t really need to use it so am happy to live without.

   And the last negative is that when we moved house I used shake-and-vac on the carpets to give it a nice smell. This very quickly ruined the waste bin on the Dyson. It acted like a sand-blalster and made the entite bin impossible to see through. I contacted Dyson as it didn’t mention not to use it in the manual and they send me a new bin quickly – very good service.

   I would certainly recommend to anyone.

   I have received it today – just in 2 days after I ordered it. Amazon is really reliable when compared with other web sellers.
   And I love my Animal! Well, I hated vacuum cleaning because it was a hard labour with no visible effect. Dyson sorted it out! I never expected an upright to be so smooth and easy to move – almost no effort. (My first encounter with a classical upright was ‘no-way’ until now.) Next – I can see it working. My carpet looks different, moved and sucked out. Not only this – I can see all the fluff and dust in the bin. So it is motivating. I vacuumed my house last weekend with my old Hoover Sprint (2 days ago) and yet within first few seconds the dust compartment was full. I had to empty it five times to finish my downstairs. Not that it is a problem – it is sooo easy to empty it! Mind you, I have new carpets (just over 1 year) and an Angora cat (long hair).
   So why am I giving it only 4 stars?
   Well, nothing is perfect. I didn’t like the instruction for illiterate people (pictures) as it left me guessing how to assemble and disassemble the thing.
   And cleaning the stairs requires quite stamina. Yes, you can reach full length if you are strong enough – the pull on the extension hose is quite heavy.
   Summarising – it’s really great. Not too big, not too heavy and working. Worth the money… if it stays this way.

   I am delighted with my Dyson. I have resisted buying one for years as I have always felt that really, how much better than the competition could a Dyson vacuum really be?

   Well, having finally been pushed to buy one by my cats, who are constantly dropping hair and mud around my house, not to mention bringing in ‘little visitors’ in their coats on occasion, I am the first to admit that I am now a Dyson convert.

   The build quality is excellent and the suction really is astonishing. I vacuumed my carpets with my old Morphy Richards Pet bagless cylinder cleaner first, then I went over the same carpet again with the Dyson….. it was both wonderful (and a bit sickening) to see what my old cleaner had failed to pick up. I had to empty the collection container before I had finished the first room. At least I know for certain that, yes, the Dyson is far superior, which helps me justify the cost of buying it.

   I also love the way the whole thing pivots so well on the ball. It is not just a clever gimmick! I stand on the one spot and go right round the edges of sofas, tables and other furniture with very little effort. I agree with other reviewers that if you are frail or have arthritis the ball action may not be suitable for you. My grandparents bought one because they had been told ‘it’s the best’ but do consider if you will realistically be able to manage an upright if you are frail and have previously had a cylinder vacuum.

   So far I am delighted with this Dyson and would recommend it to anyone with pets. However, I am sure most people would agree that the cost is still at the very high end of acceptable. Wait till Amazon have it on offer, which is quite often, and then get the best deal you can. I doubt you will find it cheaper anywhere else on the web – I know, I looked.

   Definately 5 stars, even though it dents the purse a bit!

   Wonderful. Was all assembled and working within 5 minutes of arriving. Have never purchased refurbished before but went for it this time as it provided a considerable saving which i was naturally pleased about.. Goods arrived in plain packaging which wasn’t a problem. Lack of a manual sent me off to youtube as the operation of a newer model was somewhat different to my other Dyson but again no problem. Overall i am extremely pleased with my purchase. Machine works well and is somewhat lighter and easier to manoeuvre than my older model. The button to turn off the carpet beater for use on hard floors was another unexpected bonus. Yes i am very pleased with my purchase and would highly recommend a Dyson. Either new or reconditioned. I have both..

   I am adding this paragraph after a couple of weeks usage. I still love this machine BUT find that I have to rerfit the filter that lives within the purple ball itself several times during a session. A little research has shown that this is apparently a common fault with this model and had I researched first I would definitely have chosen an alternative. This re positioning is not difficult or time consuming but after a while becomes a little annoying simply because you shouldn’t have to do it with a machine of this price..
