   Some 5 years later we have had no problems with this Dyson. So it IS robust, a brilliant design and does the job superbly.

   We used to own a Dyson, and it was brilliant – easy to use and it sucked up so much dirt compared to other makes of vacuum. However, it wasn’t that robust and only lasted a couple of years. We then bought a cheaper vacuum which only lasted about the same time – the trouble was it didnt clean nearly so well.
   So we came back to Dyson and this model is absolutely BRILLIANT. The design is stunning, the extendable hose is great, it is even easy to empty. And yes, the ball does make it more manoeverable (but I wouldnt buy it just for the ball feature). It is quiet compared to other machines, and the suction is superb. We have only used it for 3 weeks now, but each time I really do marvel at how good it is.
   However, how robust is it? Not only does this need to be a great performer for the money (which it is), but it needs to last. So I wouldnt have given 5 stars yet, but as it comes with a 5 year warranty who can argue with that?
   Perhaps I will review it again in 3 years time!

   Have never used any Dyson product before and WOW, I can say other vacuum cleaner is not a vacuum cleaner if it’s not Dyson.

   Got following requirement before buying:

   1) Strong suction
   2) Easily storable
   3) Easily manoeuvrable

   This fit all the bills.

   Dyson DC24 is a bit too small and I worried about its strength.
   Dyson DC33 is too bulky and without the ball.

   It is beautifully designed, clean piece of engineering. When I unwrapped from the box I was like looking at an Apple product.

   Their menu is easily readable as there are no words, just pictures. Got set up in no time.

   I have got a mixed of laminate floor and carpet in my flat.

   The ball works FANTASTICALLY on hard floor, you can twist, turn around the corner painlessly. And since it is on hard board, it rolls along nicely. It is really like diving a Ferrari (Dyson) compare with em…..a Truck! I hoovered a room in under a minute.

   For carpet, they have a spinning brush head in front which work great. Carpet is like brand-new afterward (no joke). In my opinion I think it cleans carpet better than on hard floor.

   Disadvantage: not sure why they don’t have recoil of the wire, but this is minor.

   It beats my expectation and I think it’s worth the even pennies!

   My old hoover was quite frankly just a cheap random one which was picked out of the argos catalogue when we needed a replacement, which worked great for a few months before it just turned into a wreck! I really needed a replacement and I’d heard all about the Dyson Ball and new it was the luxury in terms of vacuum cleaners. The price was reasonable and I decided to buy a few extra tools with it as well.

   The product arrived speedy as usual (next day), thank you Amazon! It was in a big box, and I felt quite panicked at how difficult it would be to assemble – but needn’t worry as you just need to click 3 parts onto the vacuum. It was so easy and took me about 2 minutes at the most! After this, I plugged it in and straight away went to work on my living room floor – WOW. The suction was so powerful the carpet was actually been lifted up slightly off the ground in certain areas of my living room. My carpets have NEVER LOOKED CLEANER!

   As for the dyson ball technology, it was a bit tricky getting used to it at first – but once you get used to it you can hoover with ease turning around obstacles such as sofa’s and tables! I then decided to take it upstairs to do the bedrooms and was eager to see how heavy it would feel – it isn’t super lightweight so don’t expect to lift it with ease but I would say it weighs less than the average full sized vacuum.

   The whole design is clever, from the button to turn the rotating brush off when vacuuming wooden floors to the handle which turns into a extend able wand which you attach your tools to!

   This is a must buy for anyone who wants to have clean carpets and floors, wants to vacuum with ease and someone who wants a vacuum which is easily manoeuvred. It really is worth the extra money! The quality of the material is high and I can see it lasting for a good few years – and if anything should happen, theres a 5 year warranty. WELL DONE DYSON!
