I have bought this mower from Amazon. It arrived in perfect condition and on time. It was easy to put together and is working well, BUT, it is set on the highest cut. I need to lower the cut. I have sought help from two people now, who are far stronger than me. We can see what we need to do, but it is proving impossible to move the hexagonal bolt that SHOULD move to alter the height of the cut. I had read of this difficulty in another review, but foolishly ignored it. Now I’m stuck as this is a heavy and awkward parcel to return. I’ve tried to contact Flymo, but without success so far. Hopefully they WILL be able to provide help.

(Many) years ago I worked for Black &Decker when they made hover mowers. Ours was very simple but very robust, made from ABS plastic. My own example gave many years of service. This appears to be mostly polypropylene, which is cheap, light weight, more robust than it looks but its physical appearance will soon deteriorate – glossy finishes are inappropriate for a lawn mower. To hover it requires a powerful motor (which it has) and very light weight (which it is). Forget grass collection, these things mulsh the grass and the principle of operation makes collection inevitably ‘hit and miss’. If it had a sensible size grass box and did collect all the cuttings it would become too heavy to hover!
Most complaints concern the change to a metal lower handle. The old moulded – on plastic lower handle could be used to carry the mower, but this one is much longer and so only you people over seven feet tall can now do that. Lucky you. The plastic snap- on bolts are really daft. Mine seem okay at. present but its obvious that the handle has a ‘wrenching’ effect and many of these will snap out as easily as they snap in (see photo). Like another reviewer I will replace mine with proper metal ones, but the plastic bracket supporting them also looks inadequate . The hooks for holding a stowed cable are much too close together and, anyway, if you stow the mower with the handle folded they cannot be used at all. However, just dump the cable in the grass box (photo). Why were the changes made ? Possibly to save money on new tooling for the major plastic moulding.
Its not all bad! I am getting very old and have to carry the mower to reach the front garden. Though now rather awkward to lift this is very light and very easy to manoeuvre on the grass in confined spaces. There is a good metal blade and it cuts well – though I need to use all three blade spacers. With no spacer there is no cut! The grass box simply slides in and out. The mower was very cheap to buy – I paid less than £90 which, frankly, is ridiculous value for money. I could have paid even less by buying the model without grassbox. Hovers are for mulching the grass, not collecting it. Despite all the criticism this will doubtless do the job and compared with my six year old (and still serviceable) ‘old’ wheeled mower it is a pleasure to use. Ideally I’d give this mower 3 1/2 stars, but I’m feeling generous today.

Wir würden es begrüßen, wenn im Vorfeld eine technische Abklärung erfolgen würde. Eine Beurteilung über Preis-Leistungsverhältnis und Qualität kann nicht gegeben werden,da der Rasenmäher aus o.a. Gründen nicht angeschlossen werden konnte .

Bought this as a replace for my 15 year old wheeled lawnmower thinking it would be a lot better. Unfortunately I was completely wrong. Delivered with damage to the underside of the box, which we have photos of, and managed to get to use it for the first time today 6th April. It barely ‘hovers’ and you have to drag it all over the garden with small bits of grass flying everywhere. And then you have the motor, most electrical motors are fairly quiet but on start up you get a squeak and then this thing sounds like a B52 engine as the bomber takes off. With all the minute grass trimmings flying around and the noise it makes, my neighbours were slamming their windows shut all around me. I’ve got a fairly small garden on an incline and my old mower collection box is twice the size and I’d fill it three times doing my lawn. This thing I emptied once as the rest of the cuttings blew over me, my garden and then my neighbours. I even added two of the spacers to make the blades lower so it would make larger grass cuttings so they wouldn’t escape from the collection pocket.
My experience is that it’s very noisy, no ‘hover’ so to speak, and it’s built like a child’s toy as the lid to the ‘collection box’ doesn’t clip shut and flaps around, the ‘collection box’ wobbles in its position and allows most of the grass cuttings to escape about 10 feet into the air. Contacting flymo to see if it’s a dodgy one and then I’ll probably return it. I’m going to finish cutting my lawn with the shears now.

Because of arthritis I have found lawn mowers very heavey I am so pleased with this one it’s very light if I had to lift it I could,believe me I have a very large lawn, now I don’t have to do all the work pushing and and struggerling turn it,I can highly recomend this lawn mower to anyone you can easily ajust the hight of the blade there is a good length of cable it leaves the grass neatly cut also an added bonus because it was easy it was quicker,the only down side which only lasted about five minutes was because it was so light I found myself doing a vacumeing motion back and forward so l stopped that quick but it gave me a smile and I am well pleased
