Spendfing a little more may’ve been wiser(I read all reviews too!).
After a putting the wooden bits together, what an askward nightmare with the hinge/too tight spring-lethsl! *be careful* I actually took the spring off and used a mini bungee cord thingey.
Then I foolishly hand painted our little cabin name on it, and put a sign saying “parcel box”. After first day, with little rain, the inside was soaked so in went a waterproof storage bag&groundsheet on bottom. A week later&gaffer tap over all of the splits…the lid has waroed, split and the wood looks to be rotten(?).
Its a lovely looking box-for inside and if rarely opened…so not really fit fot what is advertised.
Gutted now as id like to keep the ok/dry panel i painted name on(now wish I had not bothered) but only option is to return item fir refund ir replacement.
The irony being the box is for Amazon deliveries.

Nb. Excuse the dark, torch-lit photos. The box is not nearby so took photos upon passing. The box was soaked inside, the bag, Amazon parcel&all.

Extremely dissapointing with this. Not weatherproof (see photos of large gaps). The wood quality is dire and the manufacturing/ finish quality is poor.

Had I paid £40 for this I wouldn’t have been bothered but this is not as advertised. Very poor quality product. The hinges and wooden panels are all flimsy and the overall build quality is disgraceful.

I’m not one to leave reviews but I urge you to look elsewhere for a different product.

. But if you ignore the spring and don’t use it ! (which was much too strong) and give the hinges a little spray with WD40. It’s a great little box! Got watering can , garden tools etc and my garden shoes in it!

One star as you can’t grade lower. Item is not ‘oiled’ as evidenced by the mildew that was all over every panel – so, I end up using my own teak oil after getting the mildew off. As others have said, the springs are much too strong for the construction, and I would be wary of letting small children use the box for fear of trapped fingers. The base pieces leave about an inch gap – possibly this is to allow it to drain, which given the way the box is constructed might be a good thing! Overall, you get what you pay for, this is made cheaply, not finished to any degree of weatherproofing, and for the cost, simply not worth it. Would not recommend to anyone.

Good quality and easy to put together, but leaks when it rains making contents wet!

This is advertised as a cooler. There is only a thin plastic inner layer, that is surrounded by styrofoam, which I initially thought was part of the packing materials. After removing, and throwing away, I realized that was their idea of cooler insulation. If the measurements didn’t fit perfectly in between the seats of my campervan, I would have returned it. Oh, also no drain hole. I am going to use it strictly for dry goods. It looks nice, but the wood construction is cheap.

Few months ago, we’ve got a Furinno outdoor bench as housewarming gift from a friend. We love the style of it so I decided to buy another piece to match with that chair. Found a few pieces on Amazon in different styles, couldn’t decide which one should I get because they all look nice and very affordable! So I ended up bought the hardwood deck box (which can be used as storage and coffee table) and the hardwood New Mexico glider (which my children enjoy sitting and rocking on it). My husband took less than 1 hour to assemble both pieces. Surprisingly, they don’t look cheap at all! With the money that I’ve paid, the quality of the furniture is really out of my expectation. Although they are not “super high quality”, they do look like they are durable and gonna last for years in my backyard!! They are in right size, not too big nor too small. They are in right weight, heavy enough to be sat on and light enough to be moved around. Thanks Furinno! I will definitely come shop again and recommend you to my friends!!

The box itself is good overall and looks great, hasn’t leaked in the rain so far and putting together the central box itself was easy. It holds the items I wanted it for and works well. However I am only giving 3 stars because when it came to putting the spring hinges on it is difficult as there are no holes drilled into the lid. I have a small drill and attempted to drill holes with it but it was impossible to do so because the wood is so hard it nearly broke my drill. Would have liked to have given a better review but this made it difficult to do so.

Looks good and sturdy, sprayed it with a clear lacquer to protect it from the British elements, also added a brass handle and brass skirting board protectors to finish it off nicely!

There was quite a bit of confusion regarding actual delivery, but it had a happy end and I got my parcel, albeit a few days after expected date. I have no idea which member of the family signed for it – it says it was me, but it really wasn’t! No matter – I have it!
The package had had additional parcel tape added to it. This wasn’t a surprise, as I bought it from Amazon Warehouse, which means it was a returned item. I was prepared for a problem or two.
The only real problem was that the packet of screws and specialist bolts were missing. I contacted what if I recall correctly Amazon calls a ‘Customer Consultant’ and that consultant was a very nice person, very helpful and gave me a credit to help with the cost of the replacement items I’d need to buy, so I was very pleased by that. Apparently, Amazon don’t have a facility for replacement parts.
The parts were in extremely good condition, with only a couple of minor cracks in the wood which are fixable and I will be doing that, along with a lot of other work which is additional in accordance with my own personal requirements and not a reflection on the item itself.
I will be fine grain sanding the whole thing down before adding a finish to the wood. Ditto filling in any gaps, which there are some. As a comment regarding the gaps, I agree with other customers who have correctly said that this means the item is not waterproof. But I believe the quote is weatherproof, which is a different thing. If you want that, in my personal opinion, each of the joints would need to be caulked with a strong substance. Once that has dried and cured, then you need to apply what basically amounts to a rain jacket. That can be achieved, albeit temporarily with oil. The more obvious is either varnish or paint. Which leads to another thing – apparently there has been a treatment with teak oil, which has the ability, given there is enough of it, to peel either paint or varnish straight off. So I will have to do a bit of trial and error with that, as I want to varnish it – the wood is so very pretty, I want to enhance it!
What also seems to be unnoticed by quite a few people is that this item is actually made from what is commonly referred to as rubberwood. It comes from a tree which, in its youth, is used to harvest latex. If you have issues with that substance – and I do! – a pair of protective gloves will be needed, but once you have a proofing coat on it, it can’t touch you any longer, so end of issue. It’s nice to think that instead of the poor old tree ending up as firewood, it gains another purpose in life.
I’d like to thank those who have shown weak spots in the construction, as that gives me an advantage in addressing likely issues before they happen.
Being as the wood, I have already discovered, is quite porous, were it to be used outside, I would be extremely lavish with any protective coating and would likely put a cover over it in really dreadful weather, especially torrential rain – that stuff isn’t kind to painted finishes and especially when it turns into hailstones. I’ve had a perfectly well-painted item peel like a banana in the face of that stuff, which came down so hard it was almost the equivalent of shot-blasting! Ice and frost too are devils, since frozen water expands, so the slightest dink in paintwork and it will force it open and in goes the water!
I’ve yet to investigate the much-mentioned hinges! I can see them in the pack and they are pretty meaty. I will be taking the spring mechanism off, as I really don’t need it. Were it to go outside, I’d have a couple of strong catches either side instead of the spring. It remains to be seen as to how vicious the hinge is, but I won’t be putting myself at risk in my investigations.
Oh – I forgot to say – the item is HEAVY. I got my faithful little trolley to trundle the thing indoors before I unpacked it.
I didn’t notice a particularly strong smell coming from this. I could faintly smell spirit, but doubtless that was mixed with the ‘oil wash’ that they apply to the parts. I didn’t have any issues with the protective polystyrene type packing sticking to the item. My guess is that, for those who suffered that particular problem, they drew a short straw whereby someone in the factory over-egged the pudding a bit with the wash. Spirit or oil can often damage or melt plastic type things, as I have discovered by accident in the past.
Having now seen my little ‘box’, I like it so much I can’t bear to use it outside! This is staying inside with me, so I will prepare, construct and finish it accordingly. I will try hard to remember to post an update once I have finished, in case there are any other things to note and, hopefully, all being well, post a finished photo.

Easy to assemble, looks good. A seat cushion is almost a must; makes it way more comfortable.
