Worked well pruning my hedges which are 7 feet tall. Lighter than other pruners I’ve used. I like this good old fashioned CORDED pruner – no hassle with batteries and full power all the time. And cheaper than cordless versions.

If you are reading this review it may well be because you want an extendable pole hedge cutter at the lowest price point. Short story yes worth the money, buy with confidence. It is easy to assemble, i did not realise that the hedge cutting head comes off completely, making maintenance and storage easier. As with my smaller hedge cutter i always oilnthe blade both before I cut and after ( hoping to prevent sap from sticking to the blades ) my other hedge cutter was a cheap Aldi one and still going strong after 8 years with just this minimal maintenance. I wanted an extendable one to get to the top of my conifer. It is top heavy as other reviews have mentioned, and can make you become fatigued quickly if doing in direct sunlight ( my bad ). I considered petrol, cordless and corded.
Petrol has issue of storage over winter due to e10 fuel, and they are more expensive, but they are better balanced. If you use the hedge cutter regularly then that may be viable for you.
Cordless, i don’t trust longevity of cheap cordless batteries, i wouldn’t want it to go flat over winter and then be useless next year, trying to get a battery for my unbranded item. I find they have less cutting power sometimes also.
Branded cordless, to match my drill, £350, nice if you have that to spare or professional, mot for me.
Corded, obvious cord drawbacks, but should keep working for a decent amount time and handle winter storage no problem. Minimal maintenance too.
The cord attachment is the lower part of the handle and it means that the cord is kept far away from the cutting blade at all times, friendlier to use than my short hedge cutter and less annoying. The shoulder strap works although i don’t use it as it gets in my way, but it can be positioned to where you need it. Extending is easy with a good feeling locking mechanism. Adjustable head angle is again easy, making changes whilst using effortless.
longevity is something know one knows with these cheap brands, its a gamble. Very happy with my purchase, would recommend to others.

Not a long blade but does the job. Sound value for money.

The fact that the weightier bit is alway from the body makes it seem heavy but the strap helps when extended.
My main problem is that even when at its shortest it is still not easy to use for close up cutting. The cutter is still a bit away from the handle and the strap only gets in the way.
Overall it is usable and I’m not sure there’s anything out there at this price that would be any different.
Not sure I would recommend buying this.

This hedge trimmer works very well, the main downside is it’s very heavy to use. What you have in effect is a standard hedge trimmer on the end of a telescopic pole, and all the weight of the powerful motor is up towards the far end. This makes it very tiring to use. It does come with a shoulder strap that’s supposed to give some support but I found this too restricting to be useful. The only way I could manage the situation was to use it in short bursts with a rest in between. Conclusion.. not suitable for old ladies!

At 550 watts power this machine should be capable of some serious hedge trimming. Very robust manufacture. Good price. It offers a good blade length too. Other reviews have mentioned how heavy it is but the trick here is to get the weight acting downwards through the pole and use the provided shoulder strap, then angle the head accordingly. When you get the pole near vertical, the weight is not as bad and it becomes more manageable. The head can be adjusted to any of 4 positions easily by pressing the 2 green buttons simultaneously, making it easy to get the right angle of cut. The pole starts off at about 2m and can be extended further as the product information indicates. I would have preferred a shorter starting length but I have no issues with this. I preferred the corded version, even though this adds to the weight, because I don’t trust batteries to last long and the petrol versions are too expensive for me. I have never owned a pole hedge trimmer so I have no comparisons to make, but looking at others, I don’t think its the lightest nor the heaviest. Some of the others seem under-powered though. When connecting the pole sections, if you have any doubt about its configuration, look inside the ends and you can see the plug and socket for the power connection. You just need to align these. I tried it on some Holly trees and it managed to tackle some quite thick branches. It will be put through its paces in the spring, but for now I’m very happy with this purchase.

Yes it’s heavy but the shoulder strap helps take the weight. It took me a while to really feel comfortable using it, but once I was in the best position, it was easy enough to use. I got through a huge section of hedge in about 20 minutes all told, so while the weight is a challenge, I know I’m not going to be holding it for long. Easy to put together out of the box, only takes a minute or two. Dismantles to go in the shed. What’s not to like?

Used it for the first time and I was extremely impressed with it , it was like going through butter with a knife . Much safer than climbing on steps or up a ladder. It is heavy though due to the axis being changed when you extend it to its maximum, all the weight is furthest away from you which can make your arms ache especially as I am in my seventies . Younger people shouldn’t have a problem. Delivery super quick I would definitely recommend.
