The never ending belt game for this mower is a weird one, manual says 130801 for a replacement which is a 95″ x 1/2″ but its a way tight fit and measuring the belt outside around with a tape measure its 94″ actually so my mower was doing wheelies when taking off and wouldn’t have enough slack to switch gears, Soooooo long story short for the DRIVE belt I got a belt measuring 96.5″ x 1/2 which actually measured 95″ around the outside. (seems all belts are like this, not sure how they get their official measurement) So this provided enough slack and also “drive” tension to do what its supposed too. Not sure much about the belt world that’s just what worked for me. I also didn’t see a way at all to adjust belt tension either to have some flexibility here. So hope this helps with the Craftsman LT1000. Otherwise this was a quality product. 🙂

So entering my13th year my mower was hesitating and slipping especially when it was wet so I decided to take a big gamble and follow the instruction book for removing the deck. I had read the manual before(Really I did!) at thought it was just too complex to remove the lower mower deck but then I went ahead and did it. Wow!it was easy and I found all kinds of embedded garbage and worn belts and pulleys. Also found a plastic pulley (really Sears a plastic pulley?) anyway ordered replacements from Amazon at about half the price or even less than Sears (AKA K-Mart) wanted to charge from three different Amazon vendors. Anyway I removed all the old stuff and lo and behold all the new stuff actually fit. Now that’s got to be a miracle in its self. How many times does mail ordered stuff fit anyway? Now I had to reassemble it back. Well about 8 funny shaped cotter type pins later it was all where it was supposed to be and oh by the way I cleaned the deck and replaced blades while it was off. Pulleys, blades, belts (2) and an filter and oil change and it just purrs around the yard so instead of forking out $999.99 in the off season I fixed it all for about $80 bucks. That’s a lot of road kill I get to skip… saving about $900 excuse me but Amazon is pestering me to write about four more reviews for stuff I bought so you’ll see this review about four places on Amazon because I ordered all those parts so why not. Go ahead and do it, it was easy.
