My neighbor owns a 22’ Craftsman high wheel string trimmer model no. 917.773420. I went through it, cleaning the carb, oil & air filter change, etc. The machine now starts and runs as good as these Tecumseh engines can but the belt is slipping which keeps the string mandrel from spinning at speed through anything but the lightest growth. I purchased this belt for her and it’s a good quality belt and a perfect fit. Her trimmer is now a beast! This belt is made in Mexico but has multiple sandwiched corded layers and should last a long time without stretching like the original. It does take a little time and mechanical aptitude to change this belt. You can always take some pictures before disassembling to help in reassembling correctly. My suggestion to longevity on these machines with Tecumseh engines with aluminum bores is to change the oil frequently with a good quality straight 30wt oil or a 10w30 synthetic. Also, buy a multi-pack of air filters as the crankcase vents into the carb and the air filters get oil saturated easily which hurts engine performance. Happy cutting!

This belt fits my Husqvarna push weed trimmer (hu625hwt) perfect. Haven’t had it long to know how long it’ll last but so far it’s doing great.

I was using my field trimmer the other day when the belt broke. I checked Amazon and found I last ordered this part June 19, 2019. So it lasted about four years. Not bad for the price! I’m ordering another one today.
