I have a Craftsman lawn tractor, model # 917.203830. I bought it in 2014. It’s a 19 HP engine with a 46 inch mower deck. The part number in the repair parts manual matched up with the cable I purchased. The cable engages the mower deck. It fits perfectly. I located a Craftsman video on YouTube that provided instructions on how to install the cable. It’s worth taking a few minutes to watch it. The video says to remove the mower deck and the clutch assembly, but you don’t need to do either one. You will have to remove the gas tank, which is only secured by 2 screws. I installed the spring onto the mower deck first. When I went to attach the eye hook at the other end, it was a little short, so I had to have someone attach it while I pulled on the spring. It is probably best to start at the top and work your way down, but it was a minor inconvenience, provided you have someone to assist you. It took about 5 seconds. The cable worked. I’m not a mechanic, or even close to being one, and it took about 30 minutes to remove the old cable and to replace it with the new one. I can’t speak to the quality of the cable since I’ve only used the tractor once since I installed it. I ordered the part the day before Memorial Day, Sunday, and it still arrived on Thursday.
