   Had been happily using a pair of Flip 5’s for nearly 2 years in my conservatory. Sound quality was excellent for such a small speaker & they were impervious to drastic changes in temperature & humidity, but when Amazon heavily discounted the price of the Charge 5 in February 2023 I couldn’t resist & bought two. A year later I am still amazed how good they are. Detail & dynamics are very good, bass & treble can be a touch overblown on some lesser quality recordings, but well mixed music sounds incredible!
   OK, these may lack the smooth definition & control of my lovely super-duper real HI-Fi system in the lounge, but they are simple to set up with no cables to worry about & just so much fun to listen to!
   I use them about 8 feet apart in stereo mode, slightly toed in, with me making up an equilateral triangle & stereo imagery, although not pin-point, is surprisingly good!
   So far they have proved completely reliable. I switch on the left speaker, it pairs within 3 seconds, I switch on party boost, (which I originally set to stereo when I bought them), repeat the process for the right speaker, press play on my phone & that’s it – Simple – less time thinking Hi-Fi, more time listening to music!
   UPDATE 19th August 2024: Still very happy with these, so when Amazon dropped the price of the teal model, (which I’ve always fancied) to an irresistible £99.99p I splashed out & bought a pair for the conservatory & moved the black ones upstairs to serenade me on the treadmill.
   UPDATE 22nd December 2024: After regular daily use, both pairs still sounding excellent & I seem to be using them more than the hi-fi!

   I have now bought a second Charge 5, to allow stereo pairing. To say the sound blows me away is an understatement. Individually, the Charge 5 is a fantastic speaker, and I raved about it in my original review below. As a stereo pair, the sound is taken up to another level! For around £250 for both speakers, you have room filling separation, fabulous open clarity, rich bass, and of course the total versatility that portable Bluetooth speakers can bring! The pairing process is easy, via the JBL Portable App, and takes seconds. The reward is immense. I urge you to buy one. Then I urge you to buy a second.

   I really love this speaker for so many reasons. Mainly of course the sound quality. That’s the most important aspect of any speaker for me. The sound from the Charge 5 is open and clear, I hear so much detail, even in complex musical passages.

   There was plenty of charge when firing it up for the first time, pairing was immediate, and the JBL portable app was also an immediate success. The unit feels substantial and robust, even though I have no intention of taking it to the beach, submerging it in water, and my pool party days are long gone!! Hang on, I’ve never been to pool party!!

   From playing my first tracks, I was aware of a wide grin on my face! This unit may be top quality, but it’s also fun! It makes you smile. The opposite was true for me, with a Sony SRS-XG300 that I bought at the same time – tempted by a great Black Friday deal on the Sony. I returned the Sony and will buy a second Charge 5 to have the option of stereo pairing.

   Back to the Charge 5. I was very happy with the clarity of the sound fresh from the box, and even happier with some mild tweaking of the app equaliser. It didn’t make a huge difference, but a subtle one. I do have various other portable Bluetooth speakers, including a Soundcore motion boom plus, but I can already tell the Charge 5 will become my go-to choice. My Audio Pro Addon C5A has beautiful rich sound, but is of course mains only.

   I’d read so many reviews of various speakers, and the Charge 5 usually is very favourable reviewed, especially by What Hi-Fi, where it gets many awards. I can now understand why. This is an absolute joy, and will make me listen to even more music than I already do! I’m a very VERY happy buyer.

   JBL speakers are by far my favourite out of all the speakers I have tried. I purchased the JBL Charge 5 brand new for £92.99 here on amazon, and honestly if you love music then definitely invest in this speaker! The sound quality is excellent, bass quality is also incredible and even on a low volume this speaker still packs sound. Once fully charged, the battery life lasts agesss. The speaker is rather heavy but still portable. I prefer to use it just at home. It also charges your phone which does decrease the battery life alot but great life saver if your out. Overall this is one of the best portable bluetooth speakers out there by far! My favourite features are the long lasting battery, I only need to charge it once a week and also the base and sound quality is amazing omg.

   The power of this speaker really lives up to its size. The product is bulkly but can be held in one hand. JBL portable app provides settings to control speaker’s equalizer. My suggestion – keep bass to full and mid to lowest and leave treble on default or a point above. You can then use 3rd party apps such as PowerAmp Equilizer to further fine-tune the sound output. This speaker has high output on mid and bass which is good for clarity and loudness with punchy bass especially when kept in places like under the table or on shell where wooden enclosures can amplify the bass and control the mids and treble.

   I doubt people who are acquainted to more deeper sounds such as Bose or Sony would argue, but you can be assured that you are getting sound quality from JBL worth every penny you have spent. Similar specs on higher brands would cost double and might not even live upto the JBL standard. So do your research and visit outlets if you are evaluating various brands.

   You can believe me when I say that none of the online reviews are much helpful when in doubt, only listening to the device itself in a shop can relieve you of your doubts.

   The speaker is attractive, I have ordered red color and it looks fantastic.

   Ma prima,
   vi dico la mia impressione:

   le casse sono magnifiche, qualità superlativa.
   Vi piacciono i bassi? Allora compratele ad occhi chiusi:
   e compratevi anche l’aspirina,
   perché a me è venuto il più bel felice mal di testa della mia vita,
   dovuto alla potenza e qualità di questi bassi!
   (ciò non significa che gli alti e i medi siano scarsi…ANZI!)

   2.
   ma il top dei top, è la loro modalità stereo:
   che sono riuscito a collegare, tramite PC!

   scaricate il programma:
   “Virtual Audio Cable” (VAC),
   fatto da Eugene (Evgenii) Muzychenko:

   il programma è gratuito,
   non ha virus o cose varie
   (se non ci credete, sottoponetelo al sito: “virustotal”)

   e soprattutto funziona benissimo:
   è un programma nato nel 1998, come leggerete nel sito,
   ed è arrivato, alla versione 4.70:

   ci sono tre modalità del programma, che si possono scaricare:

   A. “Full version” (a pagamento)

   B. “trial version” (è la full, ma dopo 30 minuti c’è una voce registrata,
   che vi dice di acquistare la full-version)

   C. “Lite-version”: è quella che c’interessa!

   4.
   Ma vi do un altro aiuto!:

   digitate su youtube:
   “Connect 2 Bluetooth Speakers to PC Windows 11”,
   dello youtuber: “Chess player”:
   usate i sottotitoli in italiano,
   e il gioco è fatto!
   Vi spiegherà appunto, come usare VAC:

   Ma vi do un altro aiuto ancora!

   Se leggete la guida di VAC
   (leggetela online, dal sito di Eugene, nella sezione: “manual”:
   così potrete tradurla
   con google traduttore automatico delle pagine straniere)

   vi accorgerete che potrete:

   fare in modo che i volumi da 1 a 100% di Windows
   (che trovate in uno dei tasti “f1 – f12” del vs notebook x intenderci),
   funzionino col VAC:

   per abilitarli,
   basta che andiate sul “Pannello di controllo VAC”,
   e abilitiate la spunta sui volumi (“volume control”)
   che si trova in alto a dx, del pannello di controllo VAC:

   PS: il Pannello di controllo VAC,
   è nella cartella “x64” (dove c’è anche “audiorepeater” per intenderci):
   quell’icona blu.

   PS: per trovare ciò che vi dico,
   su “manual”, cercate il titolo: “Control Panel Installation” (è il 7° puntino nero del “manual”)
   e poi: “ Cable parameter section” (è 2 righe più in giù):
   =
   lì troverete spiegato il: “Volume Control”

   6.
   Ma vi do un altro aiuto!

   La guida insegna anche,
   ad avviare i due “Audio repeater”,
   direttamente all’avvio di Windows
   (senza che andiate manualmente, ogni volta che avviate Windows,
   ad aprire i 2 “Audiorepeater”, e poi impostare i parametri):

   per avviarli automaticamente dunque,
   basta creare 2 links-desktop del programma: “audio repeater”,

   e basta cliccare tasto-dx su ciascuna delle 2 icone-desktop “audio-repeater”,
   poi andare su: “proprietà > collegamento > destinazione”,
   e aggiungere quelle stringhe, in formato batch mi sembra si dica,
   che trovate sulla guida
   (a me l’ha fatto uno che se ne intendeva un minimo d’informatica:
   ma qualunque persona che sappia l’ABC d’informatica, vi potrà aiutare)

   e in meno di 5 minuti,
   avrete i 2 “audiorepeater”,
   che si aprono direttamente all’avvio di Windows!

   7.

   (AGGIORNAMENTO DI RECENSIONE)

   Vi faccio un’esempio che esplicita il punto 6.:

   su “(proprietà > collegamento >) destinazione”,
   voi troverete così più o meno:

   ci aggiungete queste altre stringhe,
   vi diventerà così:

   si trova nel “manual”, in:
   “Audio Repeater application” (è l’8° puntino nero, del “manual”)
   E subito dopo: “command line options” (è 8 righe più in giù):
   in “command line options” inoltre,
   se scorrete la pagina,
   subito dopo troverete anche: “(automation >)minimize to tray icon”

   PS: attenzione che,
   se all’avvio di Windows,
   non avete già aperto le 2 casse jbl,
   i 2 “audiorepeater” che si avvieranno in automatico con Windows,
   vi daranno errore,
   perché non “trovano” le 2 casse;

   PS: così come state attenti,
   a non chiudere i 2 “audiorepeater”,
   mentre ascoltate musica:
   perché vi darà altri errori:

   PS: se fate tutti i passaggi descritti,
   l’audio funzionerà benissimo,

   ma se doveste sbagliare in generale qualcosa,
   nel processo di installazione e/o configurazione/ etc
   del suddetto programma VAC,
   non vi preoccupate:
   disinstallatelo (da “installazione applicazioni” di windows)
   e reinstallatelo:
   (il programma è banalissimo e non dà errori di nessun genere a Windows);

   a volte per es. a me,
   il suono non era sincronizzato fra le 2 casse,
   MA perché IO SBAGLIAVO:
   poi pian piano quando ho imparato il programma VAC,
   e reimpostavo le cose per come era giusto,
   TUTTO funzionava alla grande!

   PS:
   al volume massimo dei 3 tipi di volumi,

   (cioè: volume casse-jbl al 100% [coi tasti “+” della cassa, al massimo]
   Volume Windows Media Player al 100%
   Volume Windows al 100% [quelli dei tasti f1 – f12 x intenderci])

   le 2 casse, se ci si avvicina l’orecchio, danno un piccolo fruscio:
   ma provate ad avviare una canzone,
   e vedete se non vi crollano i muri della casa!
   E in più, se uno a quei volumi riproduce 1 canzone per es.,
   il fruscio non si sente perché viene assorbito
   dalla potenza incredibile delle 2 jbl coi 3 volumi al 100%!

   Leggendomi e traducendomi la guida,
   ho provato a modificare anche tutti i parametri di “audio repeater” esistenti:
   ma non ho trovato modifiche o migliorie dell’audio:
   infatti se uno fa quello che spiega lo youtuber,
   tutto funzionerà, già di suo, benissimo!

   11.
   Il 2° audio repeater,
   ho provato ad avviarlo,
   non come dice lo youtuber (cioè da: “esegui come amministratore”)
   perché io sono già amministratore:
   e quindi ho visto che basta avviarlo normalmente:

   in più,
   mi sono accorto che posso mettere nei 2 “audiorepeater”,
   in “Wave in”,
   tutti e 2 “windows sound mapper”,
   e mi funziona lo stesso!
   =
   anzi, a volte,
   se per es.
   nonostante i 3 tipi di volumi siano al 100%,

   ma il volume di una cassa continuasse a rimanere più alto,
   rispetto all’altra, (più basso),

   in quel caso,
   se metto 2 “windows sound mapper” come “Wave in”,
   (piuttosto che “Line 1 + windows sound mapper [come dice lo youtuber]),

   il suono fra le 2 casse,
   mi uscirà allo stesso livello!

   PS: ma se esce uno più alto e uno più basso,
   è perché a priori si è fatto un errore di configurazione

   Love it, amazing bass, impressive sound quality from an impact size, it can goes really loud and still very rich and smooth. Connect within 5 sec once you turn on and paired previous. Great size, good weight, portable and easy to carry around. Smart looking, very pleased overall.

    Harman has won my heart on any of their Products. I love the Charge 5 I even want to get a 2nd one hahaha and make sure I fully utilise the functionalities… Party Boost😀
