This ash vacuum impressively handles the task and makes post-fire cleanup quick and easy. Unlike many other ash vacuum cleaners I researched, which tend to lose suction power after a single use due to blocked filters, this vacuum stood out. The filter remained unblocked, and suction power didn’t diminish even after six days of continuous use. Remarkably, I didn’t need to empty the bin or clean the filter during this period.

While the vacuum’s performance is commendable, a slight drawback is the absence of a narrow nozzle. This would’ve helped with cleaning the cracks and corners but overall, I am happy.

I have various Karcher products and I generally consider Karcher to be a quality brand and one that has yet to let me down. Its products generally represent good value.

This Karcher ash vacuum is made in Romania (not China) as is of really good quality.

Supplied is one nozzle and the filter. Both the nozzle and the vacuum are made of a high-grade flame-resistant material which means that you can safely vacuum up ash with burning the various powers of the vacuum. In fact the actual vacuum is a large 14L metal container with the filter sitting on top, whilst the nozzle has jacketed metal. The nozzle itself is just over 1.2m and does not extend.

This AD 2 model has no wheels but is slight enough to move around easily, should you wish to move it around. Generally, by lifting, not pulling around. The lid has a handle to help move this vacuum around.

Also located on the lid is a hole for the nozzle to slot in and sit on, enabling tidy storage.

Of note, whilst flame resistant, I generally would not advise vacuuming up hot ash.

Vacuum suction is good, although the filter does fill up swiftly with and quickly becomes clogged up. Instructions for cleaning are straight forward – push button at top of vacuum, 3 times for 4 seconds each time. I find it helpful to also brush the filter too !!

Removing ash straight forward with the 2 quick release clasps on either side. To close, simply push clasps back in place and unsurprisingly, seals with solid clicks.

So far, u I have used this to vacuum up ash from our lounge fireplace as well as ash from our outdoor bbq and this vacuum has proven great at clearing up – the on / off button and job done quickly and efficiently. My only gripes are that I would have actually liked a slightly longer nozzle and an attachment for those hard to clean edges, although the nozzle end is slightly angled, which helps.

I empty the cool ash by wrapping a bag around the vacuum container (and outdoors) to avoid ash and dust flying around everywhere.

I hope you found this review helpful.

    Karcher Ash Vacuum 14 L

The vacuum arrives in the manufacturers branded box and is very secure inside to survive the transit journey.

The vacuum is very easy to use straight from the box.

I would like to mention about the hose nozzle first as I am rather impressed by this. When you have finished using the vacuum you usually would be left with a dangling hose with a dirty end to place in your cupboard. This doesn’t happen with this one, it has a hole in the lid for you to slot the nozzle end to prevent escaping ash dust.

The nozzle is flexible bendy which is essential when dealing with stove ash and it is lined with just incase you accidentally vacuum up any remains hot embers.

The vacuum is neat and compact looking with easy storage and also has wheels and an integrated carry handle.

There is no complicated functions to master it is a simple press of a button, same with removing the lid and cleaning the filter.

I especially like that you have access to the filter without being near to the ash you’ve just vacuumed up. The filter sits neatly under the lid and the debris is below the lining lid.

This little unit is brilliant at suction, dust gone in a few swishes with the hose and the filter doesn’t block either.

Not only can this vacuum be used for wood burning stoves, it would be a great purchase if you were doing building work or renovation to your property to vacuum up the cement and plaster dust.

If you feel the vacuum is losing suction a little you can remove the filter and tap all the dust out using an object like a spoon, just gently tap.

There is also a self cleaning mechanism for the filter at the touch of the button and lastly you may simply rinse it under a running tap but the draw back of this you will not be able to vacuum again until it’s dried completely. I use the gentle tapping action first.

This is a vacuum specifically designed for ash. You need to make sure the ashes have gone cold. Then it has a good suction to clean up fireplaces, barbecues and open fires. Works well and easy to empty out afterwards.

Doing the morning cleaning of my log burning stove was always a task – sweeping fine ash into a metal bucket causing dust everywhere. The Karcher ash vacuum made this operation so easy, taking seconds to complete this task without the dust clouds. Self cleaning filter system maintains a strong vacuum. A well designed quality product if a bit expensive
