Works fine but not as functional or as well styled as its predecessor. To lift the toast to check on its progress you have to “pop” it. Also, because you cannot lift the toast, you must take care not to burn your fingers when trying to get it out when it is done.

So many toasters to choose from at the cheaper end which I was looking for. Kenwood being a British company with years of reputable products helped me decide on this toaster.
Inside the box is the toaster and instructions. I like the simple, clean design with it’s all white colour. On one end of the toaster is the lever to lower the bread, buttons for defrost, reheat and cancel then finally a dial with 7 browning levels.
Underneath the toaster is the crumb tray that is of course removable.
Prior to use for the first time the advice is to use the toaster without bread on a medium browning level which I did. There was some mild plastic smell given off which was advised.
I then placed 2 white slices of bread into the slots. Using browning level 4 I lowered the bread down and pressed the defrost button as my bread did come from the freezer.
This is an 800w toaster so not as quick as some. I didn’t time the duration but was happy with the wait until my toast popped up.
Looking at the result I was impressed to see the bread nicely toasted all over at a decent shade of brown, not burnt at all.
The slices I used were small and I placed them horizontally into the slots.
My initial thoughts are positive. The toaster has a simple, clean design. The power cable could be a little longer but is fine. The all important toasting was great and so I am very happy with the purchase.
