This blender from Kitchen in the Box is an imposing piece of kit, with a big capacity 2L jug and 1500W motor. It’s made light work of everything I’ve thrown at it so far, producing delicious chilled smoothies with plenty of ice, perfect in the current hot and sunny weather.
It’s quite loud in operation, although not unacceptably so; cleaning is fairly straightforward – I’ve been handwashing (after whizzing up some water in the jug as recommended) but it’s also dishwasher safe.
Discounted at time of review to under £90, this is a great value addition to our kitchen.

This is a powerful and reliable blender. It’s handled everything I’ve thrown at it so far with aplomb. The blades are strong enough to pulverise ice and frozen ingredients easily. Frozen cherry and bananas for smoothies are easily mulched for a good texture in your drinks. The jug is a standard size and the footprint on the counter isn’t huge.
The jug is plastic, so I’m not keen on putting it in the dishwasher in case it clouds up. Fortunately it’s quite easy to clean if you rinse it out immediately after use before the ingredients can dry and adhere to the blade.
It’s noisy and it the motor will heat up, but usually by that time the ingredients will have been blended. The physical controls are simple and it’s easy to adjust the blend speed. The pulse function also works well.
Recommended if you want a powerful, no nonsense blender.

If you make large batch soups, smoothies or other blended products you should consider this. The 2l jug is of a strong plastic construction and is dishwasher safe- if it will fit effectively, but you could just drop some detergent in the water and just blend-baby-blend to get it clean- the volume is excellent for a semi-professional use, or simply working with a larger family.
Construction materials and design are on the “strong/robust” school of thinking and the unit has a solid and weighty base from which to blend, grind and liquify the food.
The powerful motor will easily crush ice, so softer fruits and veg are just as easily broken down, the controls are very simple On-Off, Variable power and Pulse-and don’t have the multiple options of similarly priced competitors, but it’s all about the power and the volume.
I felt that the visual impact of the control interface was under-appealing, it feels a little bland/budget in the user experience and for the cost (130gbp) really should have more operational functions but also more cosmetic appeal. It’s a strong powerful blender, it should last a significant time as it appears built fro the ling run, but it does look less at home in a modern kitchen compared to other equally well-performing ones.

I wasn’t really aware as I’m not very good with numbers or very technical but my husband mentioned that this blender has an 1500W motor which is very powerful for a blender and I am also able to confirm this statement giving how easy it chops through a variety of ingredients.
It’s easy to use and doesn’t have many buttons to complicate my life.
It has a speed intensity dial which I find to be a great feature for a blender because we all want different textures to our drinks and this can only be achieved by increasing or decreasing the speed so adjustability is key. Another great feature is the pulse function which helps when blending lighter ingredients as that little pause between blends helps the ingredients drop down again to the knives for good chopping.
I like my sauces and dressings with which the design of the jug helps a lot. Without the removable lid, the dressings wouldn’t turn out the way they do because some of the ingredients and oil needs to be added constantly or later in the blending process and ideally while the mixing is ongoing.
The blender feels well put together and of reasonable quality.
It’s easy to take apart and put back together so that shouldn’t be a deterrent to use it every time you need to.
Overall, this blender performs really well and it is a big help in my kitchen, after my husband of course.

This is an absolute fantastic blender.

This is big…over 50cm high and feels like a real quality piece of kitchen equipment. It’s almost veering towards performance and capacity that you’d use in a restaurant or cafe. It gets the job done in no time, with no messing.
It’s loud, (you have to raise your voice to be heard above it) but it whizzes through soups, veggies, ice, smoothies, frozen fruit – in fact pretty much anything – so fast that it’s not really a problem as the noise doesn’t have a chance to be annoying. The variable speed dial and separate pulse switch give you more control than the usual three-setting blenders, (my previous one had this and it was quite limiting). The jug is wide and sturdy, and copes easily with larger quantities, if you are making batches of anything.
It’s the blender equivalent of an exclusive expensive black SUV… too large to fit in the garage and takes up lots of space. However, when you do find a parking spot, it’s sleek attractive and head turning. It growls loudly when you drive it, if you put your foot down moves like the proverbial off a shovel and copes with every tough terrain.
Basically if your cupboards aren’t sky-high, it’ll probably have to live on the worktop. Luckily, it looks superb. The jug is plastic, but it’s very solid and lightweight, which makes pouring easy and lowers the potential for glass related accidents. Easy to clean, just rinse and give it a quick blend with water. Normally around £130 which is expensive, but at the time of writing this is on a limited deal for £89 at which, in my opinion, is a very good buy.
