Having previously owning a coffee machine, I thought an upgrade was in order and I came across this machine and decided to try it out.
From the moment the box arrived, I could tell it was something a bit special. The packaging was well thought-out, nothing excessive, and everything was snugly fitted. No pointless layers of plastic or fiddly bits to wade through, which I appreciate. Took about ten minutes to get everything unwrapped, placed, and given a once-over with a damp cloth before I was ready to have a proper go.
The design is sleek – black and stainless steel gives it a proper ‘grown-up kitchen’ look without being flashy. It feels solid too, not the sort of appliance you worry will rattle itself to bits after a fortnight. The grinder is integrated at the top, and it’s surprisingly quiet. Not silent, obviously, but it won’t wake the whole house when you fancy a brew at 6am.
Using it is wonderfully straightforward. I’m not exactly a barista, but the interface is very intuitive – a few buttons and dials, all clearly labelled, and you don’t need to dig out the manual every time you want a flat white. The real joy is in the control you’ve got over the process: grind size, tamping, shot time – it all feels rather satisfying. There’s a nice rhythm to making your morning cup, a sort of small ritual that turns coffee-making into a proper start to the day.
And the coffee? Glorious. The espresso it pulls is rich and full-bodied, with that lovely crema on top that you never quite get from pods or instant. If you’re using decent beans (which I highly recommend), it genuinely feels like café-level stuff. I’ve also played about with steaming milk – the wand works beautifully, though it did take me a few tries to get the right froth for a flat white. Practice makes perfect.
Cleaning, thankfully, isn’t a faff. The drip tray slides out easily, and the portafilter and grinder bits rinse clean without needing to be disassembled every time. There’s a descaling function too, which is handy for those of us in hard water areas.
All in all, I’d say it’s well worth the investment if you’re after a proper coffee experience at home. It’s not the cheapest out there, but for the build quality, the control, and the results in your cup, it’s cracking value. Would happily recommend to any fellow coffee lover who’s ready to ditch the instant and do things properly.

It looks great on the counter with its black and stainless steel design, and feels well-built. The built-in grinder is definitely a plus – it has 30 grind settings, which is more than enough to play around with depending on the beans you’re using. It does take a bit of practice to get your espresso just right, but that’s expected with a manual machine. I like that you can adjust the temperature and pre-infusion settings – it gives you proper control over the process. The steam wand works well too and makes nice, creamy foam for lattes and cappuccinos. The interface is clear and straightforward once you get used to it. It’s not cheap at £449.99, but for what it offers, I’d say it’s good value if you’re serious about espresso. Plus, with Prime you get free delivery and a 30-day return window, which helps. Worth considering if you want café-quality coffee at home and don’t mind a bit of hands-on effort.

I rather like coffee and have been contemplating putting a machine in my home office for some time now, and as machines go I doubt they get much better than this! I’m still learning how to use it, being someone who doesn’t read instruct I thought I could just plug this in and go, but nope it is a tad more complicated than that and I haven’t gone beyond espresso yet! Ito be fair it is just idleness on my part and I’m pretty sure that once I try the other modes offered it will quickly become second nature, so I’m not too worried. What I have got so far is beans ground too perfection, little cups of joy and an office that smells like heaven, there is absolutely nothing I dislike about this. Perfection!
