Used to cut a yew hedge but kept stalling with thickish branches – presumably to preserve the battery. Persevered and managed to get the job done but the stalling was a bit frustrating. Bought this to replace a corded Bosch because I cut the cable twice but suspect I will now keep it. Stalling aside, the Makita is much easier to use but the Bosch beats it hands done for pure muscle.

The same performance as a petrol power machine, but without the heat, smell, mixing fuel etc. Worth every penny.

Bought to trim two 30m beech hedges and other trees at the front. The tool is excellent and the long blade means most work could be done from the ground. I have 3aH Makita LXT batteries, and one battery did all the job on a full charge.
Only complaint is that the tool is heavy if you use it for extended periods. Thoroughly recommend.

Really good weight, not too heavy. Cuts like a dream and fairly decent on battery. Wish I bought earlier!

Had a 2 stoke petrol hedge trimmer (Chinese made) before this and I must say having two batteries instead is cleaner and much less hassle. One battery can be charging while using the other. I haven’t run out of power either, one is always charged by the time I need it, even after fairly constant use. I get almost 20m of hedge (one side only, not the top and other side) out of a single charge.

Noise is greatly reduced too ( I don’t worry about annoying the neighbors).

It is lighter and easier to manage than the petrol version too, but it’s not feather light either. I do get a work-out when cutting the tops of my head height hedge which is about 20m long but worth it to get that long blade. It also doesn’t die when held upside down or at an angle like the petrol one used to do.

The depth of the blade is fantastic, cuts the head height work in half as the hedge is about the same depth.

Power hasn’t been a problem either (thought it would), cuts about the same as my old one.

Knowing Makitas reputation for quality is really reassuring, my old petrol one lasted four seasons before the gearbox failed, only time will tell if this does better..

The rotating handle is surprisingly useful, thought it a gimmick before I bought.

Grab it and go… just remember to fully charge the batteries for next time.

Have used other cordless hedge trimmers which lacked power and often jammed. The Makita has plenty of power, cuts rough hedges well, and with the long blade makes it easy to cut long or high hedges.

Coupe aussi puissante et parfaite qu’avec mon ancien thermique. Le poids et le bruit en moins.

    Mr. A. Kirk

Excellent hedge trimmer. I had intended to buy the 36v dual battery version at 65cm but glad I went for this 18v 75cm brushless version. Plenty of power. Lightweight, having only one battery. Added advantage of one battery to power it is that your charging regime is less complicated. We have 160m of Leylandi hedge to cut up to 11ft high and 8ft thick and never once did I wish I was using the petrol trimmer. Don’t miss the noise/fumes/heat/weight at all. Highly recommended. The extra length means I don’t have to stand on anything as often to reach the tops of hedges (side face).
