First Makita hedge trimmer i have bought, my last black & decker one motor died after 18 months, but i do have a lot of hedges to cut, and it was only £62, but still hoped to get at least 3 years use from it. Anyway early days with this one, but the quality is their, soon as you pick it up, well balanced, and the space between the cutting blades is very good, it just reaps of quality, but you expect that from Makita. Nice little touch with the safety chord clips, shows they have put a bit of thought into the trimmer, and the stupidity of some user [me] lol….So first impressions are very good, i am sure i wont be disapointed with the performance, give an update in due course..

Il prodotto è ben fatto e funziona bene, d’altronde Makita è una garanzia. Il peso non è eccessivo anche se dopo un pò si sente. Difetti? Lo spezzone di cavo che esce dall’attrezzo è molto corto e costringe ad avere l’ingombro delle spine a ridosso della zona di lavoro oltre che a sostenerne il peso. Nel complesso lo consiglio.

I bought this because the blade is longer than most hedge trimmers, it’s motor is more powerful than most – and all of the other Makita tools I have bought are well made and have lasted a long time. In use, it’s not particularly heavy, well balanced and cuts through much thicker branches than I would have expected – at least 15mm I would think – but then it is new! I know it’s more expensive than some, but it’s well worth it!

I bought these trimmers to replace a Bosch machine that only lasted 3 years before the motor blew. I wish I had never bought the Bosch machine in the first place but had a recommendation from a friend. I normally always buy Makita and all my other power tools are Makita in fact. Compared to these trimmers the Bosch machine was a joke. This is a far superior machine by a country mile. It feels a lot more solid, its quieter, its easy to handle, its lighter and it is covered by the Makita guarantee which I have only ever had to call upon once in the past and they collected, repaired and returned my machine with no hassle whatsoever. Bosch do not off this as part of their guarantee. If you are going to purchase hedge trimmers do not buy Bosch or any other make (cetainly not Black & Decker they are no better than toys) buy these and you will not be disappointed.

The trimmer is pretty good. Not to heavy, a bit top heavy in terms of balance. It makes short work of hedges and thinner branches. The cable could be 10 ft longer. The safety hasp that you attach to your person is useless though, any pull on the cable will release it from the plastic grip and you don’t know it has happened.

Well, I admit to being a brand snob, and Makita have a VERY good reputation for their woodworking power tools.
So when my old hedgetrimmer died, given that the right size Makita wasn’t that much more than the same size Bosch, I punted on the Makita.
It’s really nice (so far). In particular, the balance is excellent, so it’s easy to do overhead cuts, vertical, horizontal etc. It FEELS lighter than my old one, despite being slightly heavier.
The cut quality is good – but you’d expect a new blade to be sharp.
Thus far, I’m impressed. I can’t comment yet on reliability or longevity, obviously.

I have been trimming hedges and bushes all my life, both very large hedges to small bushes. I have always used Little Wonder hedge trimmers due to their length, cutting ability, and position of the handles which are great for sweeping the sides of large hedges or tall shaped evergreens (they are pricey) and I’ve used the inexpensive Garcare telescoping trimmers for doing the tops of tall hedges (good for the money), but for those times where I needed something more maneuverable for smaller bushes and hedges I tried the Makita trimmer. Very impressed. It cuts really well – super fast. I can trim smaller bushes and hedges at least 2 or 3 times faster. It can do bigger jobs as well. I see this trimmer as a must have for anyone who does a lot of different types of trimming. Well worth the price. You won’t be disappointed.

Plutôt que de faire aiguiser les lames de mon taille haie Metabo qui était excellent j’ai acheté ce taille haie Makita qui, en promotion, n’était que deux fois plus cher que l’aiguisage de lames. C’est un excellent taille haie de la même qualité que mon précédent avec des améliorations car ce dernier avait plus d’une dizaine d’années. Facile à utiliser et d’un poids raisonnable. Coupe très bien. Makita est une excellente marque. Bien meilleures que d’autres marques très connues dont j’avais du me débarrasser pour acheter ma Metabo car elles ne coupaient pas bien.
