   Hard to beat the spec. at this price point. Wireless charging, 256Gb, 8Gb ram and 120Hz refresh rate. The CPU is ‘mid-range’ but perfectly decent — released late 2024, a 4nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3. Also has eSim support and NFC. Cameras are good enough for me. Check on GSMArena to compare with other devices. Heavy usage for four weeks, no problems; zero regrets.

   This phone is awesome, can’t believe I only paid £230 for it! I typically spend over £1000 for flagships such as s23 ultra and Honor magic6 pro.

   Both of those phone have OLED screens which cause terrible eyestrain and headaches which makes me sound old but I’m only 27. I don’t think I’m buying flagships again.

   Here’s what I love about this phone:
   – military grade protection
   – looks cool in blue, reminds me of colored iPhones
   – non-oled screen!! This is the reason I bought it and it surprisingly looks decent. I dont understand the OLED hype anymore now, especially since they get screen burn when using apps like Waze for long periods. Fortunately IPS displays like this are immune to that issue
   – fast enough for everyday tasks
   – stock android with minimal bloat apps
   – even has micro SD card slot

   Here’s what’s not great:
   – Camera zoom
   – Speakers aren’t the greatest
   – would be nice if it was available with flagship processor and camera but all higher models have OLED screens

   Overall I’m very happy with this purchase, I feel like I’ve been wasting money on the top end models for years after buying this as I typically only use my phone for social media, YouTube and occasional casual games.

   If you need a no thrills daily driver this is it.

   SUMMARY: The G75 is a worthwhile upgrade from the G73 if you want a better speaker-phone and won’t miss the 3.5mm socket. The upgraded sound and waterproofing are added incentives. If you’re new to Motorola phones in this price bracket, take a look at the G84 (or whatever replaces it), as that has a nicer screen that you might prefer. If you’re on a really tight budget, the G73 is a good buy just now, but the G75 is better than the G73 if you can stretch to it. The speaker-phone on the G73 is terrible.

   This is a quick review that I may add to as I get to know the G75 better. It’s mainly for people who have a G73 and are thinking about upgrading to the G75.

   Context: As a former user of flagship phones on contract, circumstances dictated that I downsized my spending dramatically, and fancy phones on contract were an obvious saving to be made, but I still wanted a decent smartphone experience. The Motorola G-series of phones have bee perfect, and I and my family have had a load of them now, this G75 being an upgrade from my much loved and used G73.

   The G75 is a little larger than the G73, and a little heavier too.
   The slightly distressing rattle from the camera area of the G73 is not gone, but it’s quieter on the G75.

   SPEAKER-PHONE: The speaker-phone on the G73 was awful for the people you were calling, and it was very annoying. However the calls I’ve had on the G75 have been very clear for the person on the other end of the line, which I’m very happy about.

   SOUND: The sound output of the G75 is capable of being noticeably louder than the G73. Sound quality is good, but if the G73 was too quiet for you, the G75 will fix that.

   WEATHERPROOFING: The G75 is now dust and water resistant with an IP68 rating, so it will withstand full submersion in water for a short while. This is a massive upgrade for me, for though my G73 never had water damage, I was always conscious that it was at risk. One of the trade-offs of this is there is NO 3.5MM SOCKET. (I’ve capitalised that in case it’s a big deal and you’re just skimming through this review.)

   BATTERY: The 5000mAh battery sounds a lot but with heavy use, the battery on my G73 got weaker over the 11 months I’ve had it, which is one of the reasons for the upgrade. It’s too early to say if the G75 is going to be better in the long term, but as a rule, Motorola phones do reasonably well for battery life, but they are very much use dependent. Also the G75 has CORDLESS CHARGING! Woo hoo! Okay it’s slower than corded, 15W vs 30W, but that’ll do me.

   SCREEN: The G75 screen is larger, brighter and sharper than the screen on my G73. I cannot account for the change in sharpness, but I migrated all my data across from the G73 to the G75 and there is noticeably more detail in my photo wallpaper on my G75 than there is on my G73. Same photo just copied over. I cannot explain this, but there it is, noticeably better. There’s also proper Gorilla Glass on the screen, and while I never had a problem with scratches on my G73, it’s a nice upgrade.

   HANDLING: The G73 is a snappy little thing to use, and the G75 is no different. The G75 is a little larger and heavier, but it still fits in the little cubby in my car that my G73 fitted into, so that’s a bonus for me. Holding and using the G75 is a pleasure.

   CAMERA: The camera is fine on the G75, but don’t expect a great camera. It’s okay, but if you’re coming from a premium smartphone, you need to lower your expectations. On the plus side, it is better than the G73’s camera, so that’s an upgrade, but this is not a phone you buy for the ultimate camera performance. I use my camera a fair bit, and it’s great for my needs, but I also have proper cameras for when I want the best quality images. For most people, the G75 camera will be fine, but if you like to zoom in and crop images, it may disappoint. For comparison, I and my friend compared the G75 to her Samsung S22 Ultra. The S22 Ultra was (unsurprisingly) better, particularly when zooming in, but my friend was very impressed at the performance of the budget G75 compared to her flagship phone.

   Okay, general stuff aside, now we get onto some of the Motorola features that make the Motorola G7n series so appealing to me.
   LCD SCREEN: I use my phone a lot, and I found OLED screens just can’t cope with prolonged extensive use. Screen burn is still a thing, and the LCD screen is perfect for my needs. The trade off for this is poorer contrast and brightness, particularly the poor contrast at low brightness settings at night. If you want popping visuals, OLED is the way to go. (This is why my son has the G84.)
   CLEAN ANDROID: Motorola phones have minimal additional software above basic Android and what they have is useful. I love this about them, and I also appreciate the prompt and regular updates I get pushed to my phone. The G75 has been promised 5 years worth of Android updates, which will be more than I need.
   MEMORY CARD SLOT: Why pay a fortune for giant internal storage in your phone when you can just fit a 1TB memory micro SD card in it? You can store your photos and videos from the camera straight to your phone, so you have no worries about being able to fit everything onto your phone.
   A PROPER FINGERPRINT READER: A bit of a bugbear of mine, but having the fingerprint reader in the power button works perfectly and means you can use screen protectors without compromising the fingerprint reader. The fingerprint reader is VERY reliable. Quick and even works with damp hands, which some don’t. If you’re cautious about fingerprint readers, this one should put your mind at rest. Note that fingerprint readers struggle with make-up and moisturiser, so if your hands are always coated in some sort of emollient, maybe face recognition is the way to go.

   CONCLUSION: I really like my G73 and learned to live with its limitations. The G75 takes the G73 and gives me water resistance, cordless charging, a decent speaker-phone, a larger, brighter and sharper screen, improved sound output, a better camera with 4K video, and more. There is no downside to upgrading from the G73 to the G75, unless you’d rather have your money than a new phone. A perfect evolution, IMO.

   As an upgrade from a four year old Motorola G8 with battery issues this is so different in many ways, first thing I noticed was how sensitive the touch screen was compared to the G8, it responds to the lightest of gestures and touches, it was vert easy to set up and if the old phone is still working and can scan a QR code that is produced on the new one then transferring all the info and files, pics, address directory, etc to the new one is a doddle, it took about ten minutes for it to do it, I sat back and watched it do the lot. All the gestures such as double chop for flash light, double twist for camera, work really well, as does the sound quality on phone calls probably due to the calls being made now through the Wi-Fi instead of via the mobile network, a feature that was not available on the G8. Everything about this phone is better than the G8, I can hear phone calls much clearer than before even though I am very deaf, VERY VERY pleased I purchased this phone and with that huge memory (264Gb) that would have cost a fortune for an I-Phone, its excellent value. Something like 5 operating system updates and six security updates makes it the icing on on the cake.

   For the money it’s a great phone you can’t go wrong. The only thing is the camera but for £200 pounds it’s ok if you are looking for a basic phone this is the best one I think. I had a pixel 4 great phone great photos .I got that five years ago for £300 pounds. Had to get a new phone because pixel put a program on it to renew the battery . What’s a shame because the phone was working fine before that .it has put me off pixel phones now even though they are the best phone out there I think for the money .but if they do things like that they’re not so good . I hope this can help someone deciding to buy this phone like I say for the price the Motorola g75 is a good all round phone . But if you want a phone with a good camera I would not buy it.    Excellent value. Very fast ooooo and dead easy to use. All I did was switch SIM and it all transferred like a dream (I am old-ish)! Needs charging a bit more, but there is so much more. Love the AI. Cool. Screen great. Solid bit of kit. Great pics😁😁😁😁
