Excellent coffee machine, lovely looking and great coffee, came with 12 pods and once registered with Nespresso I got 50 free mixed pods, 5 different varieties, very easy to register, in the box is a code stuck on the drip tray, I didn’t know why at first so threw it away but got it back to register, I think to get the 100 free pods you need to register for a pay monthly coffee account. Pods are so much cheaper direct from Nespresso rather than from Amazon for some reason, I installed the Nespresso App and ordered 60 pods, 6 varieties for £33 and could choose exactly what I wanted, seemed to be around £50 + From Amazon for similar quantity depending on what coffee you wanted.

Very happy with this. It’s a lot bigger & bulkier than I expected but the coffee tastes really good! The pods are expensive & there dont seem to be any cheaper compatible available, but as advertised with this 1 I did get 100 free pods once I registered with nespresso. I love that it makes all different sizes of cups too.
Oh & to lift the lid at the start the machine needs to be switched on & you gently touch the little “flap” on the pod lid & it opens itself. To fill up the water bit, if you twist off the lid its much easier.

This machine is much higher quality than we expected. Heavy duty, well designed, looks good, and most importantly makes fantastic coffee. It’s like inkjet printers though – it’s quite obvious that the machine is worth more than the price that you pay, but maker’s profit is on the capsules. It works out at around GBP0.80 (c. $1) per cup of coffee, but it’s not stopping us drinking lots of cups! (We’ve got a great recipe: in Spain you can get a coffee called a ‘carajillo’ (just ask for one after a meal): it’s espresso made with 50% brandy. Our recipe: heat 40 ml cheap brandy in a microwave for 15 secs or so. Then add an espresso straight from the machine. Perfect carajillo!)

Had been using Nescafe machine for last few years which was good, but have a friend who always recommended Nespresso. Gave it a go as was good deal & glad I did. The machine looks very sophisticated but is very easy to use. Makes the coffee within 2-3 mins. Came with selection of samples which was great way to try to some nice new coffee, from espresso to Alto. I really like that because the Vertuo pods have a barcode, the machine automatically stops pouring when the coffee is made. This means you don’t have to judge the pour time yourself & end up watering down the coffee. Most importantly, the coffee tastes great & come out at the ideal temperature, so you can enjoy it straight away. I like the way it disposes the used pods too with no mess & it comes with recycling bag which is nice touch.

My Nespresso Vertuo machine arrived last Sunday and I’ve used it constantly since. As you can see in the video, it’s so easy to use – just pop up the lid, pop the pod in, close the lid and let the machine do the rest. For those who like milk with their coffee, I’d urge you to get a milk frother. The coffee comes out the Nespresso machine at a temperature ready to drink straight away so putting cold milk in the mug is going to take away from the flavour and experience. Also, if you’re going to order the barista creations – vanilla custard pie etc, you’ll also need a milk frother. They don’t taste very nice without milk. As you can see in the photos, it was so easy for me to get the 100 free pods January 2021 offer from Nespresso. I sent my serial number in on Sunday 10th January and my 100 coffees arrived Wednesday 13th January.

Have used the old style Nespresso pod machines for years and loved the coffee they produced.
My old machine died after 5 years of daily use and thought I’d give the Vertuo range a try mainly due to the fact they offer larger pods for bigger servings which means I wouldn’t have to use 2 pods per drink and would save a bit of money.
I got this model (Vertuo Plus) as online reviews indicated that this is the most reliable Vertuo machine, with lots of people having issues with the Pop and Next models.
I’ve only had the machine for a week but have made around 20 drinks so far with lots of different types of pods (espresso/small and large mugs)
The espresso shots seem ok- nothing special, not as good as original line capsules but drinkable.
The larger pods (150ml and 230ml) are aweful. Like really bad. I have a Nespresso boutique nearby so went and bought a load of different pods while I wait for the welcome offer to be validated. I prefer lattés to espressos so mainly got the mug size pods. Every coffee tastes the same, bitter and disappointing. It makes no difference if I use an intense, mild or sweet blend – they all taste terrible. Vanilla/caramel – no hint of the flavour, just bitter horrible tasting brown water with or without milk. I tried adding more sugar than I would usually but the bitterness is just overwhelming.
I would honestly prefer instant coffee to what this machine produces.
I’ve seen other people have had similar issues and have suggested to cut the machine off before it finishes pouring as it may be putting too much water through the pod and that’s when the bitterness comes in. I will try this but it’s not really acceptable as i’ll likely have to go back to using 2 pods per drink and it just adds complexity to what is supposed to be an easy experience.
Also seen people suggest adding salt to drink to cancel out the bitterness but not willing to do this.
If the taste doesn’t improve I may ask for a replacement machine or i’ll just use up the pods I have and return the machine at the end of the return window.
Think it’s likely i’ll go back to the original line machines
**Update – I asked for a replacement machine and it is exactly the same. Instead of 230ml it pours about 280ml and tastes aweful. Going to try Nespresso customer services tomorrow and if they can’t provide a fix over the phone it’s going back and might try the Next model for a month to use up the pods i’ve already bought
