I was so looking forward to this item and bought it off the back of the excellent reviews.

Very easy to use and useful instruction booklet. Also makes a decent espresso with a good creama but that’s as good as it gets.

The steam wand is a massive disappointment, I wasn’t expecting top notch at this low price but what a let down. The wand is too short to reach into even a short jug and the machine doesn’t produce enough steam at consistent pressure enough to texture the milk. Instead of producing a nice glossy foam you end up with a warm, creamy milk with a little bit of froth. I am trained to use a professional barista machine so I know it’s not from lack of experience.

The wait time between brewing and steaming is too long. The coffee is cold by the time the milk is heated.

The machine is compact and would fit nicely in most kitchen spaces but means that anything bigger than an espresso cup is difficult to fit on the tray.

Looks fab and coffee tastes ok (this is based on my own personal ground coffee choice used) eventually.
However, I thought I found a bargain… remember you get what you pay for!
Mostly made from lightweight plastic, have to hold the whole machine down with one forearm whilst twisting the holder into place with the other hand and it feels like the machine is going to break with the amount of pressure needed by both hands to set it up properly. Filter size issues as well! Small filter is weak even in one espresso, larger filter will only make 2 small espresso/1x 250ml (max) decent coffee.

Absolutely LOVE this coffee machine, I’ve using wasteful pods to make my coffee for years but took the plunge to get this machine and go for barista style grounded coffee type and now wish I had done it sooner. Fantastic price too. Very happy.

Looks nice but coffee is watery with a fake crema, may work better with shop bought ground coffee but you would be better off buying a machine that doesn’t use/need a pressurised filter basket or alternatively use a french press.

But there is a fix and I suspect the designers of this machine anticipated that you might do this which is why they made this modification so easy.

If you research espresso machines you will find this modification is the first action any espresso specialist will recommend. This machine comes with a pressurised portafilter, now this is fine if you like a crema on your coffee but it will produce a weak watery drink. Even with a double basket brew the drink is weak because it is not extracting enough of the bean flavour.

So take a cross head screwdriver and remove the three screws from the bottom of the single portafilter basket, remove the assembly which has three components, the plastic base, the inner plastic base, the rubber gasket and the perforated disk. Put aside the two plastic bases and put the perforated disk back inside the rubber gasket like a window frame and push back into the portafilter basket. Now you will get stronger coffee because you are extracting more flavour from the coffee, so you will only need the single basket instead of the double. This is an excellent design because unlike other machines in this price bracket, this machine seems to be designed to allow this enhancement.

There is catch however, for best results you will need a high quality coffee bean grinder like a Sage at about £160 to get espresso grade coffee grind. I have made this modification for the single basket but keep the double basket as supplied for shop bought pre-ground coffee. I know this sounds a little complicated but do your own research first say on utube and you will understand what i am saying. There they will refer to this as the depressurised portafilter modification.

The extraction is a lot better, i am getting stronger coffee from the single basket than i was getting before from the double, also stop the machine say a quarter or a third or halfway up the cup and top up with boiling water, experiment to find the best dilution for the taste you want, the next upgrade would be to buy a machine with a lower water pressure, say 9 bar which allows the water more time extract the coffee flavour, but then you are looking at a lot more money and the law of diminishing returns.

    Enjoy your coffee making journey.

Update: April 2025, this machine is finally succumbing to the extreme limescale in my area. So, despite frequent descaling, eventually all machines in high limescale areas slowly fail. Previously had mid priced (£600ish) a Gaggia Classic and a La Pavoni machine so I have learned my lesson, buy a cheap machine like this, modify it to give excellent coffee and when it fails, just buy another. This would apply to most areas in the Southeast of England and many other areas besides

Did not have high expectations because of the low price, but I have to say this little machine works very well so far. It seems a bit flimsy and light so I feel like I have to be careful handling it but does great coffee and milk froth.

I bought this product as a replacement to a similar coffee machine I’ve had for 5 years and had stopped working. The old coffee machine I had was a similar price to the one I purchased from here but was far more inferior to the machine I just bought from here. Really happy with my purchase. Thanks a lot 😁
