Great kettle, little bit noisy but otherwise nice and quick

So we like the kettle and have been using it everyday for just under a month. It’s a large looking, rapidly boiling steam punk looking object. I like it, you may hate the design.
But design and looks is what this kettle is all about. I struggle a bit because it’s all a bit less than it seems. The brightly coloured coppery bits are metalised plastic. The temperature gauge is in a retro Fahrenheit system of measurements, nice but useless for generations brought up on the metric system.
Body is blackened stainless steel, although I guess it is supposed to look like cast iron or something retro as well. There’s a plastic window to judge the amount of water inside – although it’s easier to guess when filling it up.

But does it work and is it practical? Yes on both counts. The top handle needs getting used to, althiugh you should note that the lid is tight and steam comes out the spout, minimising the chance of a burn. The lid is easily removed when needed by pulling with a finger, and it pours easily – better than the ‘modern’ one it replaced. Base and plug are fine.

Can I recommend it? Yes, although I’d have like the plastic parts to be a real metal as that would improve with wear and time. I’d have like a centigrade temperature gauge – although to be fair I don’t suppose I’m going to use that much anyway. But yes.

1.7l electric retro design stainless steel kettle from Nessgraim

Ordered in black with copper coloured and plastic touches that complete the retro look .

A large capacity kettle , good quality solid build and modern features including a temperature gauge ,auto shut off when boiling point is reached and a water level window.

I prefer the temperature in C° as we all are used to 100C° for boiling point and the slightly lower temps for coffee and herbal teas.

Useful when leaving to cool a bit .

Great capacity for a big family but will also happily boil a few cups , all reasonably quietly and quickly .
When full ,the top handle makes it a little harder to lift and pour than a side handle. Make sure the handle is straight and vertical before pouring as it does fold down.

Safety features you’d expect , easy to fill and clean due to the large lid space , swivel base and cut off , none boil dry – definitely a talking point in any kitchen and a great price .

I love this kettle! I wish there was a setting so you could it to 80c or 100c without having to watch it! It’s still a cool kettle! Glad I have got it

    Customer Review

I love the retro look of this kettle; it really looks the part with its rose gold/copper accents, etc., but it does have some negative points.

Firstly, the handle. To me it feels a bit flimsy and harder to pour than a kettle with a handle at the side.

The product listing describes it as fast heating, but that depends on your idea of fast. It takes roughly 5 minutes to boil (when it’s filled to the max); my old kettle takes roughly 2 minutes. Also, the temperature gauge is in °F rather than °C (I’m old school °C).

I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks now, and it’s already got quite a lot of limescale buildup. The kettle doesn’t have a limescale filter, so if you live in a hard water area and don’t fancy descaling your kettle every few weeks, then I’d probably give this one a miss.

It’s an aesthetically pleasing kettle, sadly let down by its performance.

Thank you for taking the time to read my review. I hope you found it helpful.
