Very good value but, I have had a minor issue with it. For the price I shouldn’t complain however, I have a Honda strimmer/brushcutter and a Honda Izy lawnmower and the Izy blade is a problem. The balancer works OK with the brush cutter blade but the mower blade doesn’t fit well at all. The problem is that the hole in the blade is a smidgen smaller than one of the steps on the cone. It is probably just a few thou but I haven’t got the equipment to shave this off the balancer cone and still guarantee concentricity. This is a big problem in that the mower blade has to be lined up by eye and repeatable placement is hit and miss thus rendering it only marginally better than the old “nail in a piece of wood” method of balancing. I only have Honda gear so cannot speak for other mowers and it may well be that other mower blades fit properly.

As the title suggests…this just ok as a crude method of balancing a lawnmower blade, particularly if the stepped spigot sizes are not an exact fit for your blade, as was the case in my experience.

This product is used for balancing lawn mower blades and did so very well

I blame YouTube for this purchase as who knew that you needed to balance your mower blade when sharpening it. I used this for the first time at the weekend when I sharpened 4x blades. 3 of them were in balance but the 4th was slightly out and taking a little more metal off of the heavy side did the trick. Cannot honestly say that I have noticed any difference but my blades were in pretty good shape to start with. As a future guarantee of smooth running, I really think that this little gadget is well worth the investment.
Top tip, ensure that the surface that you are using is level before you attempt to check or balance a blade, this way you can measure any deviation rather than just relying upon your engineers eye!

Not much to say about this other than it works well. Left it lying around in the house and it proved a talking point for visitors who thought it was an intriguing ornament!

This is a very simple but easy way to check the balance of a mower blade (and I am sure similar style blades).
Simply pop on top and give it a gentle push and then watch it spin round. Any balance issues will show up as it spins.

I realised how unbalanced my lawn mower blade after sharpening must have been until I purchased this simple tool

What you get;
A circular base plate fitted with an upright nail. On which balances a hollow, stepped cone, each step increases by about 3mm diameter. It is made of a metal alloy.
The first blade I tried (made in the U.S.) didn’t fit snugly on a level, the 1.5mm free play either side of the core made it impossible to centre and balance. I thought it a waste of money.
My second blade however (made in the E.U.) was a tight fit and the whole concept then made sense.
It’s a very simple idea, it is very easy to use and very accurate AS LONG AS the hole in the blade fits snugly on one of the levels. The balance is sensitive enough that it needs to be done in a draught free location.
(I own a lathe and will machine a level to fit the U.S. blade too.)
