Bought to replace the similar RH kettle, with button operated flip lid. The old kettle still works but lid has failed and couldn’t even be opened by hand, so can only be filled through spout.
This new kettle lacks two other features that the flip-lid version has: the water level window and the power on indicator light. But neither of those features are claimed so this kettle fulfills expectations.
EDIT: After a week or so of use I have discovered one very annoying thing about this kettle. The lid design has a very impractical grip. It is so smooth and slippery that unless your hand is bone dry you can’t get enough grip to overcome the strong clips that latch the lid in place.
While I didn’t feel the very loud boil (it is a lot louder than my previous RH kettle) was serious enough to remove a star, the combination of the over-loud boil and impractical lid grip have led me to delete one star from my rating.

I bought this kettle as an emergency replacement for an old Russel Hobbs kettle that finally stopped working.

One big concern I’ve had with buying a new kettle is plastic making contact with the boiling water. In fact, I’ve been looking at some plastic-free kettles that cost over £100. But I don’t really want to spend that much on a kettle at the moment.

But I’m delighted that after a bit of modification, I was able to remove all the large plastic components from the inside of this kettle.

The limescale filter holder came off quite quickly. I don’t need it since I only boil filtered water, so I never get any limescale build-up.

The cup measuring fins took a lot more work to remove. The correct technique is to drive a wedge between the red plastic wrapping around the metal rod, and gently tap until the plastic piece comes off.
I tried using my hand to pull the cup measuring piece off, and I found that it simply did not want to let go. But eventually it did come off using the wedge technique.

There is a small ring at the bottom of the metal rod that feels soft and squishy, making me think it’s made out of silicone. I could probably remove that too, but I left it on.

And unlike my old kettle, this one does not have a “water level” window. That might be an issue for some, but for me it’s exactly what I wanted. No plastic exposure through that.

Otherwise, a nice kettle. Boils quickly, looks sleek, and quieter than my old Russel Hobbs. And this modification did no harm to the kettle at all.

If plastic is not a concern for you, then I can highly recommend it as-is. If you want a plastic free kettle on a budget, then you have the option to remove all the plastic that makes contact with the water.

bought to replace the previous version of this kettle – house full of coffee addicts plus very hard water means we’re tough on kettles. They’ve replaced the heavy matt textured plastic of the handle and lid with glossy lighter plastic, makes the kettle slightly lighter when full, but harder to grip, and looks kind of cheap. This new version doesn’t sit as tightly on the base, so it turns easier, but also feels wobbly. Boils faster than the old version, and it’s now got a holey metal plate between the filter and spout, good for stopping limescale, but makes it a bit noisier. Does the job okay so far, we’ll see if it lasts as long as it’s predecessor

Does the job, but feels a bit cheap.

the top cover is not hinged, which is weird and not fun to use.

I received this kettle the day after I ordered it. I boiled it twice then discarded the water. It’s great, it’s fast boiling and makes a noise when it’s boiled. Super kettle. Thank you very much.

Useless…please do not buy this hopi g it will hold a projector which is the same size as the one in the image shown, its to weak, mine has fallen over damaging thr projector, completely useless.

Replaces a ‘no name’ kettle bought from a local shop 18 months ago which died. Hopefully a well known brand will last some years.

A couple of negatives 1) why is it so noisy? Is it because of the metal construction? 2) the plastic lid is not tethered in any way to the main body of the kettle, in other words it does not pop open at the press of a button, you have to manually remove. This is not in itself a problem, however there’s no way to get a good grip when you try to grab! Poor engineering in my opinion, I have solved the problem with masking tape which adds enough friction between fingers, thumbs and plastic lid. Not very elegant but I can’t be bothered to go to trouble of returning. One of the reasons for shopping in a real shop – you can actually handle the merchandise!

On a positive note, boils nice and fast, and has some orange paddle things inside which help you judge how much water you really need. Would I buy again … meh!
