    Russell Hobbs know their household electrical appliances and have designed a kettle with a few extra functions that may be useful. However if you just want a kettle to boil hot water for hot drinks you probably won’t want to pay the extra for these features so this probably isn’t the kettle for you.

    The 3000w heating element and 1.7 litre capacity are pretty standard I think and are available in much cheaper kettles but this does ensure the convenience of fast boiling. It’s a bit noisy when boiling but I think that is normal and it’s not loud enough for me to complain about.

    The matte black finish with the blue LED indicator light looks sleek, stylish and modern and should fit in with any kitchen, although it is a fingerprint magnet and needs frequent wiping down due to this.

    It’s heavy when full but comfortable enough to lift and pour and the swivel base makes moving it around to the best position for you simple and safe.

    One of the added useful extras is the variable temperature control with its five presets which is a precise temperature for different drinks such as green tea, black coffee and even water at a temperature suitable for baby formula. The ‘Keep Warm’ function is really useful and I have used this more than I thought it would and I have found it really handy – I’m always boiling the kettle, getting distracted and then forgetting about it and needing to reboil half an hour later.

    All in all this is a good kettle albeit a pricey one so you would need to weigh up if the handy extras are worth the extra asking price.

    Excellent kettle- reasonable price – bleeps are not too loud – great for herbal teas with the temp range – fast boil – but best of all it pours without dripping everywhere – basically if I dropped it & it broke I’d buy another

    I like the modern clean styling with a matte black finish and metal spout. The capacity is 1.7l which is typical of most household kettles, yet it manages to look compact. The swivel base gives you the flexibility to locate the kettle in awkward spaces, while allowing the kettle to be removed to fill or pour water. A potentially useful feature are the five pre-set temperature buttons. For the avid fans of brewing tea and coffee at their optimum temperature. There is a also a button to select Keep Warm.

    The lid pops up when the release button is actioned, allowing full access to the interior of the kettle. It would have been handy to have more graduations in the water level scale, I think 0.5l markings are too coarse. Maybe also graduations measuring cups.

    This is a powerful kettle that boils water fast, which is my primary consideration for a kettle. This kettle looks and feels like a quality product and is priced accordingly.

    I recently purchased the Russell Hobbs Addison Kettle in matte black, and I’m quite pleased with it overall. It boasts a good 1.7L capacity, variable temperature settings, and a keep-warm function, which are all very useful features. The blue LED indicator is a nice touch, and it boils water quickly thanks to its 3000W power. One thing I was slightly concerned about, having read other reviews, was the potential for the writing on the kettle to come off. However, I’m happy to report that so far, I haven’t experienced any issues with this. The writing remains intact, even after several uses. Of course, it’s possible that this might change over time with multiple cleanings, but for now, it’s not a problem
