This is a marvelous 18 volt cordless hedge trimmer. It works absolutely marvelous it can go to any angle and can be adjusted please be aware it does not come with its own battery and on a good quality battery charge it will go for at least 20 to 30 minutes please be aware it’s not a tree saw so it may get stuck in larger branches. Apart from that it works fabulous

Ich hatte, wie viele von euch, eine elektrische Heckenschere. Also kaufen und ausprobieren. Diese wurde gleich mit einem 18 V / 4.0 Ah Akku gekauft, da hier viele die Akkulaufzeit (18 V /1.2 Ah ) bemängelt haben. Der riesen Vorteil bei diesem Gerät liegt darin, dass ich mich mit 1.80 Meter nicht mehr bücken muss, um die Heckenschere anzusetzen. Im Stand wird diese angesetzt und nach oben gezogen. Reicht bei mir für 1,6 cm dicke Äste der Hecke völlig aus. Ein Nachteil ist wenn die Hecke Schräge geschnitten wird (oben nach vorne zu mir). Dann muss die Schere hinten so tief gehalten werden, dass dann doch wieder der Rücken beansprucht wird ( ca. 1.50 hoch ). Das hat aber mit der Heckenschere nichts zu tun. Deshalb auch keinen Abzug bei den Punkten. Dafür habe ich mir von Ryobi die Heckenschere ohne Verlängerung gekauft. Deshalb hier die volle Punktzahl. Ach so, bitte bei diesen Produkten den stärkeren Akku kaufen. Es lohnt sich wirklich. Bei mir bekommen nicht alle Produkte 5 Sterne in der Bewertung. Diese sind es nach meiner Meinung Wert !!!

The machine is easy to set up One battery is quite capable of doing a lot of bush trimming. However if intending to do a whole normal garden a second battery would be essential. Would certainly recommend it if a battery light weight machine is required.

Das leidige Thema Heckenschneiden wurmt mich immer das ganze Jahr bis dann leider im August/ September die Zeit kommt wo es keinen Ausweg mehr gibt. Die 50m Hecke (beidseitig) hatte ich bisher immer mit einer schweren elektrischen Schere geschnitten. Nach nicht mal einer halben Stunde schmerzten die Arme bereits so sehr dass eine Pause nötig war. Auf das blöde Stromkabel musste man auch ständig aufpassen. Da unsere Hecke auch ziemlich hoch ist und man viel über Kopf schneiden musste, war auch eine Staffelei notwendig.
Da ich schon mehrere Produkte der Marke RYOBI habe und ich damit bis jetzt vollauf zufrieden bin, holte ich mir natürlich die “Long Reach”. Was soll ich groß schreiben? Ab jetzt macht das Heckenschneiden wieder richtig Spaß, am liebsten würde ich die ganzen Nachbarshecken auch gleich schneiden, wobei wir schon bei der Akkulaufzeit sind. Von meinen anderen Geräten habe ich einen 1.4Ah Akku mit diesem lässt sich schon ca. eine Stunde schneiden. Habe aber trotzdem noch einen Ersatzakku mit 4.0Ah dazu bestellt was im Nachhinein gar nicht nötig gewesen wäre. Im 4.0Ah Akku ist auf alle fälle genug Dampf drin um meine 50m Thujen Hecke beidseitig zu schneiden. Auch fingerdicke Äste sind kein Problem. Das beste ist aber dass sich die Verlängerung im 45° und 90° Winkel schwenken lässt, somit ist ein arbeiten auch über Kopf möglich ohne dass man eine Leiter braucht. Der Griff lässt sich auch in beide Richtungen schwenken damit man immer schön flach auf der Hecke aufliegt, praktisch auch für Linkshänder.
Ich kann dieses Gerät uneingeschränkt empfehlen und freue mich schon auf die nächste Saison. Als Tipp noch: Es gibt so Unterbodengewebe oder Unkraut Schutzfolie mit 10m Länge. Wenn man diese unter die Hecke legt fällt das Schnittgut darauf und man spart sich noch das zusammenrechen 🙂

I love it!! The flexibility with the rotating handle is great. I have a 5.0Ah battery from my Ryobi lawn mower and this hedge trimmer lasts for AGES with it (4hrs on and off for me). I love the reach of this device, though it is a little heavy so you do have to be quite strong to hold it above your head for any length of time. I cuts, even thicker branches, very well.

Having been a bit confused by model options, this turned out to be what I needed.
Having inherited a couple of Ryobi batteries some years ago, I’m a bit locked in, but I have two 11 year old batteries (still in excellent condition) for occasional power tools, weekly edge trimmer, and now the twice yearly yew hedge and shrub tidy so my assessment is biased by the lack of need for a battery purchase.
The trimmer is fairly light, replacing an old petrol trimmer. The blade can be angled and the handle is long enough to reach to the top of a 2 metre hedge from the ground (I’m 5′ 11″) to cut level.
There is a baffling array of handhold positions with safety switches – it will only run with both hands pressing a switch. Plenty of power to cut through normal shrubbery without stalling.

Does what it should and the extra handle adds stability and reach. I got a 2AH battery as well as a 4AH battery and they provide enough time for my arms to get tired so I can recharge them.

First of all the positives :
– portability, freedom from cutting the cord (which i’ve done many times!) – Great battery live, i get my front and back hedges comfortable done on one full charge – i find myself becoming slightly obsessed with my hedges, so easy to take the cutter out of the shed for a quick trim, makes the job much easier and my hedges look the best on my road if i do say so myself! – The articulating blade i’m on the fence about a litte, the blade is very short so if you want to trim the top of the hedge onseen then it would want to be a very thin hedge, though it thts yours then its a positive, i wouldn’t get one with this feature again to be honest as it makes the shaft too long
Cons :
– This comes apart and the joint below the big handle is hand screwed and loosens itself easily despite my best attempts to tighten as much as possible. I’d go as far as to say its dangerous as when you are cutting and the trimmer starts wobbling all over the place its very distracting and i could see how an accident could happen. – my Bosch corded trimmer blasts though my hedges with ease and has greater reach. The cutters on this are very weak by comparison, if you dont keep on top of regular hedge trimming then you are going to get jams on the thicker branches. – the buttons on the back handle are very clunky and stiff, they have jammed on me once or twice too, another potentially dangerous aspect.
Overall, if i was buying again i’d get one with a shorter shaft, one that doesn’t come apart and and perhaps with a longer blade and greater cutting power even if it meant having to sacrifice battery life. The build quality feels nothing like as good as my corded Bosch but i guess its far cheaper though and far more convenient and weighs a lot less even with a 5A battery in it.,
