So incredibly disappointed. The coffee machine hasn’t worked since day 1. The seller has ignored my request for support/repair. Amazon haven’t supported in any way. I now have a very expensive coffee machine that doesn’t work.

I grew up using espresso machines and have over 40 years experience with them. This machine makes indescribably bad coffee.

This joke of a machine has wasted 2kg of the finest fresh locally roasted coffee… coffee which I have years of experience using and pulling exceptional espresso doubles on using a proper machine.

I have not just used the inbuilt grinder (which is basically a toy) – The inbuilt grinder was tested using measured bean doses from 17g to 21.5g in .1g steps. Purging between each test-grind. I did NOT rely on the pathetic supplied tamper… For consistency, I used a properly set calibrated tamper.

I also made sure the machine was reset to factory defaults before using it at all.

Regardless of setting, this machine produces bitter, undrinkable muck.

At NO TIME has it ever produced a correct dose of espresso. I even use a tare-ed scale to ENSURE the correct ratio of bean weight to final espresso weight.

This machine NEVER gets the correct shot, usually producing more than 3 times the correct amount, with disgusting results EVERY TIME.

For comparison, I compared the output to my 20 year-old Gaggia, grinding the coffee for both machines using a super accurate Anfim commercial grinder.

The old Gaggia still makes a great espresso with the same beans… The Sage Barista Pro has still never produced anything drinkable… I have thrown away EVERY cup of espresso that ever came out of it. NO EXAGGERATION, NOT ONE CUP OF DRINKABLE ESPRESSO HAS EVER BEEN PRODUCED BY THIS £699.00 PILE OF RUBBISH.

There is NO WAY to tell if it is set to the correct brew temp, and no way to adjust it to any known value!!!

I can make far better shots with a £25 Aeropress, a 20 year old Gaggia Classic. This should give you an Idea of just how useless this machine is.

Needless to say, It is awaiting collection and a full refund from Amazon,

It’s a nice compact size, does exactly what it’s intended for. I’ve had it a week and still haven’t mastered the grind size I need but that’s more to do with me than the machine! The steamer is exceptionally quick and easy to use. The only negative I have is, it doesn’t fit under my unit as the bean holder makes it too tall.. again, that an error on my part for not measuring the height 🙈 would recommend if you like a good cup of real coffee that’s not instant !

The fact that it grinds the coffee fresh and then makes the creamiest cappuccino changed my morning coffee pleasure. I should’ve bought this Sage machine years ago instead of wasting time and money on 2 delonghis both of which broke down within 2 years and I didn’t have decent coffee during that time.

I decided to take the plunge and move away from pod coffee to sourcing artisan beans from my local roaster and taking control of all aspects of the brewing process. This machine allows me to choose how fine or coarse to grind my beans, exactly how much coffee I use per brew and how long I run the infusion for. The consistency of every step is excellent! I also appreciate the low water alert feature – previous machines I have used only fail when the water runs out, but this one alerts you to refill the reservoir before it runs dry, ensuring you never airlock your pump. I also really like the Dosing Funnel attachment, this make the whole process mess-free! No more grounds scattered all over the countertop! Using the funnel when grinding keeps all the coffee in the brew filter while you tamp it down with the included tamper (which stores away very handily in it’s magnetic storage bay). While I don’t often use the steam wand to froth milk (I drink my coffee black) when I do, it works flawlessly and is easy to keep clean. I highly recommend this machine for people who really enjoy coffee and want the best tase for the least hassle.

I am a barista and bought it for home using, it was as I expected.

This is an upgrade on my Sage Barista Express (also an excellent machine) and I’m already enjoying the significantly faster times to heat up, create steam, foam milk, and be ready for the next cup.

I’m still working on fully dialling in the extraction but I’m already seeing the potential for improved coffee quality.

Reading some of the other reviews, I think it’s important to point out that this is NOT a bean-to-cup machine. It’s primarily a manual operation and you need to understand or want to learn the fundamentals of grind, dose, tamp, and extraction to get good results.

Honestly, my first three pulls were terrible. I can imagine anyone expecting to press a button and get a good cup would be sorely disappointed.

For me, I love the process of making my own coffee and continually experimenting and improving. With patience and skill, this machine will develop sweeter, richer, tastier espressos and lattes than you can find in most coffee shops. You will be fully rewarded for your investment in the machine, finding your perfect extraction, and using high quality, fresh beans.

If you want to push a button, buy a Nespresso. If you want to be a superstar home barista, this is your next purchase.

Hats off to Amazon for speed of delivery – only 13 hours from order to doorbell ring!

the machine is great and works well, but in description said it comes with dosing funnel and with baratza burrs and it didn’t, this is not the upgraded version, other than that machine looks amazing and espresso quality is improved from my bambino

Here’s what this device can’t do:
    1. Correct fine grind. Even the minimum grind value (1) gives a coarse grind that is not suitable for making proper espresso.
    2. Set the correct temperature. Even the maximum temperature setting does not make the water hot enough.
    3. Maintain stable parameters. The grinding quantity and temperature value are always different.

Ultimately, if you buy properly ground coffee and buy a normal tamper and scale, you can get a drink that will be similar to espresso. I will say that this device certainly makes better coffee than a fully automatic coffee machine, but this fact does not transfer it from the category of toys.

I bought this in January from Amazon AE (though shipped and sold by Amazon UK). After ten days, I started to notice huge vibrations and then water leakage from various parts and surfaces (including underneath) when steaming milk. I had to return this back to the UK and incurred the shipping fees unjustifiably even though it is a damaged and defective product.
Amazon AE is not cooperating even though they are the actual seller. It is highly recommended to buy directly from the certified retailer on Sage website to avail warranty / replacement. Otherwise Amazon is of no use.

This is the 2nd Sage machine we have bought, the first one was bought in 2014 and now has a problem with the heating element. We decided to replace the machine as it would cost a lot to get the old one repaired and there was no guarante how much longer it would last. Luckily Amazon had a special price on so I jumped at it as hubby was getting grumpy without his favourite morning coffee. This Sage machine is an improvement on the previous one – which was great – and hubby is enjoying his daily fix. It may seem a big layout initially but after having several cheaper plastic pod coffee machines most of which only lasted a year – some less we think its well worth it. It is our only vice – well I think it is – not smoking or drinking or anything else for that matter. – so go buyyourself this brittiant expresso coffee machine – you could also drink smoke and have sex if you want!!
