   I usually make coffee using a French press but cleaning it up isn’t my favourite job. This machine is a nice step-up from that and I’m impressed. It’s easy to use and clean, and it produces piping hot coffee. It’s also cheaper and more environmentally friendly than using coffee pods. It doesn’t take up much workspace room either, so hooray for that.

   I deducted a star from the overall rating for two niggly reasons. The first is that it’s hard to see where the maximum fill line is in the reservoir. The other is that it continues to drip for a while after it has finished pouring the coffee. Neither is a deal breaker but perhaps Salter might fix them for future versions of this machine.

   Does what it needs to do for a great price. Don’t see the need for anything more expensive. Used it for a few months and no real issues. Steam wand heats up milk quickly. The coffee area is large enough to fit a normal mug if you angle it in. Water storage is large enough for about 6 ish coffees. but its easy to remove and refit. Overall, good product, basic functionality but amazing price.

   You can trust Salter to produce quality goods at affordable prices and for this item they continue to do so. For a quick one cup with no fuss it’s perfect. Cleaning the filter is a dream. Once its emptied just rinse and no stain, no blockage. The reservoir is a bit tricky as the back fill near the lid hinge is best overcome by using a small jug but as I’m arthritic it may be a subjective thing. The travel mug keeps the drink at perfect temperature and a broad band prevents burning your fingers. Excellent results and all round winner.

   Straight out of the box it is so hard to like this machine. The coffee is not hot and the steamer wand makes it all so much worse. It will not froth the milk properly (but from what I have read, few/no espresso machines do for under £200-£300) and the milk stays cold so lattes and cappuccinos are just horrible.

   The workaround? Ignore the user guide when it says the machine is ready when the green light comes on. It simply isn’t. I wait for 3-4 minutes before even beginning to make coffee (switching it on before my morning shower). I also took off the outer steel sleeve of the steam wand. It is then much better at frothing and heating the milk but it still takes time. When you want to steam – put any old cup under the wand and wait until it stops spitting out hot water (which will simply dilute your milk) and only puts out steam. The I start using it to froth and heat the milk. I put a 350ml steel jug under the wand and steam and steam until the jug gets too hot to hold and then I switch to holding it by the handle. That’s the only way I’ve found of getting a hot latte/cappuccino with this machine.

   If that’s not for you – this machine is not for you. Straight from the box it is NOT a good experience at all. Play with it a little, find out its quirks and overcome them and it will make a much better cup of coffee.

   However, once it stops working, I will replace it with something much, much better.

   The lid broke on y to the 4th day of using. Though the product has 12 months warranty Amazons return date has exceeded hence I am stuck with a defective product

    I never wanted to travel mug I just wanted a single cup filter a coffee machine, that I can use off-grid with my inverter and lithium batteries and this is absolutely perfect 🤩
