I bought this kettle to use with my 1000watt pure sign wave inverter in my van, as its listed as a 900 watt kettle, so there shouldn’t be a problem, however , when I tested how much power it uses, its between 1018 – 1045 Watts, that’s way over 900 Watts, I think this kettle shud be re-listed as what it is – a 1000watt kettle, as 900watts for this performance is mis-leading.
I have yet to try it in my van, but I expect the inverter to go into current limit as it won’t like having to provide over a thousand Watts for this kettle to boil a ltr of water lol I will update here if it does run on my van inverter.

Pretty impressed by this kettle. After doing lots of research on several low watt kettles for our new caravan we decided to go for this simple looking, standard white kettle. Ideally we wanted a stainless steel one or something a little more fancy but after reading reviews they didn’t sound much cop so we went for this (well known brand) Sunncamp. First of all I would like to note that it is a 900w not a 1000w but please don’t let this put you off. We received the kettle today and put it to the test and here’s the results….
For a full…ish kettle at 1.5l full and brand new out the box it took 9.08 mins to reach its boil.
We then boiled two full (very decent size) cups of water (which is more unless all we will be boiling 99% of the time) and this took just 4.23 mins!
The main question I had for our new low watt kettle was how long it actually took to boil and we just couldn’t find the exact answer in both reviews and YouTube videos, so here it is 😊
Defo worth the buy I say, auto flick off works perfectly fine and the lid is not stiff to open and close too 👍.
My only downfall if I was being really picky is I would have liked a 360° base but this is no biggy.

This kettle is perfect for me in the touring caravan i Iike the colour ( off white ) and it doesn’t trip switches due to its low wattage

Only larger sized low wattage kettle I could find. I wanted one for using with the solar panels when not getting full output on cloudy days, at 800-900W instead of 2.5-3kW of a normal one, so I’m not dipping into the mains supply but using the free solar. Most low wattage ones are tiny travel size. Obviously being 1/3rd of the power it takes 3 times the time to boil as traditional, that’s to be expected. Useful, I’d imagine for caravans or using a small domestic generator in a power cut, where power is limited. I will say, the only downside is that it is not as aesthetic as some expensive modern kettles, but is ok, though worth noting that when you lift it off the base to use the water that the switch stays on. Not a problem if some water left in it, to form steam to click off when boils, but if empty it will stay on indefinitely which is not ideal, as I did this once and was alerted to a click as the over heat protection clicked off/on a few times over an hour until I realised what the clicking was. At least that tested the safety cut out.
